Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez makes history by scoring the first-ever FA Cup semi-final hat-trick at Wembley…

Riyad Mahrez scored the first-ever FA Cup semi-final hat-trick at Wembley Stadium Manchester City reached the final with a 3-0 defeat of Sheffield United.

It was also the first hat-trick in the league’s semi-final since Alex Dawson took a treble for Manchester Utd against Fulham in 1958.

Man City took the lead just before the break after Daniel Jebbison brought down Bernardo Silva in the area

Mahrez, who took the penalties after Haaland fired at Bayern Munich mid-week, confidently sent Foderingham the wrong way.

The second half continued in much the same fashion, with United struggling to gain any meaningful possession.

City gradually turned the screw and they doubled their lead just after the hour mark when Mahrez grabbed the ball in midfield and was allowed to run unchallenged. With no sign of a tackle as he reached the box, he coolly slipped past Foderingham.

Five minutes later he completed his treble.

Once again the United defense was helpless, this time allowing Jack Grealish to clip in a ball from the left.

City will go to the FA Cup final where they will face either Manchester United or Brighton

Mahrez answered with a nice strike from in front of goal and despite getting a hand for it, Foderingham couldn’t keep it off.

Guardiola then began to turn his attention to Arsenal and made a number of changes.

City played time confidently and will now return to the national stadium in June to face rivals Manchester United or Brighton.

The two sides meet at Wembley on Sunday in the second of the weekend’s semi-finals, 40 years after the clash in the famous 1983 final.
