Man City vs Chelsea – FA Cup semi-final: Live score, team news and updates as Pep Guardiola’s side look to bounce back after Champions League exit – PLUS action from the Premier League’s 3pm kick-offs
The Hatters come into this game after finishing a NINEgame winless run with their home win against Bournemouth last weekend.
There have been 116 goals scored in Luton’s games this season, making them the THIRD most entertaining team to watch in the league.
FOUR of Luton’s six wins this season have come at home. Luton have scored more league goals (24) than Man United (23)

Kenilworth bounces!
An update from our reporter on Kenilworth Road, DOMINIC HOGAN:
From Joy Division to Tag Team, from Shakira to The Jam, the DJ here at Kenilworth Road is doing his utmost to get the stands dancing for what is a huge match for both sides in the relegation battle. That said, I’m not so sure they need to make an effort – there’s already a lively atmosphere; The power of the Kenny is so great that so much noise can be generated with relatively few voices. The Hatters have three of their last five games in front of their own fans – could this prove the difference between playing Championship or Premier League football next season for Rob Edwards’ side?
Will Erling Haaland start?
Pep Guardiola admitted he is ‘not sure’ whether Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne will be fit to start against Chelsea after the pair were substituted early in City’s Champions League defeat in midweek.
The truth is, with City playing Brighton on Thursday, there is plenty of rest time to recover after today’s crucial semi-final. It is likely that Guardiola will do everything he can to get them into the starting line-up.
As for Nathan Aké and John Stones, both are fit and available again, and therefore it is likely that one of them, if not both, will return against Chelsea. Josko Gvardiol’s solid form of late sees him return to our predicted lineup.
As for Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino will undoubtedly go at full strength with enough bodies in the engine room to nullify City’s midfield threat. Expect Conor Gallagher to continue to follow De Bruyne like a leech if the Belgian starts.
Manchester City predicted XI:
Ortega; Walker, Stones, Dias, Gvardiol; Rodri; Foden, De Bruyne, Alvarez, Doku; Haaland
Chelsea predicted XI:
Petrovic; Gusto, Chalobah, Silva, Chilwell; Caicedo, Fernandez; Palmer, Gallagher, Sterling; Jackson
Discuss… FA Cup replays axed
The decision to scrap FA Cup replays has upset many fans this week, and with good reason. It was hard for me too…
It was an FA Cup fifth round replay that made me fall in love with football: my grandfather offered me his ticket to see Portsmouth play Liverpool at Fratton Park on my birthday. The booming Pompey atmosphere, Shaka Hislop’s penalty save, Richard Hughes’ winner save… it was the first time I really understood the magic of the cup.
Wolves boss Gary O’Neil, an unused substitute in that game, had his say on the decision to scrap replays yesterday, along with a host of managers across the country.
How does the decision make you feel? Let me know in the comments…
The man of the hour…
It’s impossible to preview today’s FA Cup match without talking about Cole Palmer.
The former Manchester City academy graduate has been nothing short of sensational for Chelsea this season, scoring 20 league goals and rivaling Erling Haaland for the Golden Boot.
It’s not just his goals that are impressive. Palmer has taken Chelsea to the next level with his confidence and maturity, something Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson appeared to miss during their penalty shootout on Monday. But more about that later…
Pep Guardiola must be dreading the thought of Palmer coming back to bite them today, and you can be sure that City’s lineup will be squarely focused on neutralizing his threat at Wembley.
LINEUPS: Sheffield United vs Burnley
Needless to say, this is a huge game for both sides at the foot of the Premier League and the Blades have opted for a pair of Ben Brereton Diaz and Oli McBurnie in search of goals.
As for Burnley, Lyle Foster leads the way, with Arijanet still preferring Muric to James Trafford.
LINEUPS: Luton vs Brentford
Ivan Toney is the shock exclusion for Brentford today, with the England international left out of Thomas Frank’s matchday squad.
Meanwhile, Carlton Morris leads Luton again as Rob Edwards names a full-strength side at Kenilworth Road.
FA Cup: Who is waiting for the winner?
It’s almost impossible not to keep your eyes on the trophy once you’ve reached the last four, especially if you’re in the position of Manchester City or Chelsea. Many will say that City are the clear favourites, but remember that Chelsea were just an extra-time goal away from winning the League Cup at Wembley in February.
Whoever is victorious today will have the luxury of playing against Manchester United or Coventry City in the final and taking home football’s most historic cup competition.
With Coventry the only non-Premier League juggernaut left in the competition, Mail Sport’s IAN HERBERT delved into the Sky Blues’ incredible journey ahead of tomorrow’s match at Wembley.
No Treble for City this year…
If Man City won the Treble AGAIN this season it would be one of the craziest stories ever in football.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid dashed all hopes of a successive Treble on Wednesday when it knocked the Premier League leaders out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals, triumphing in the penalty shootout.
There was plenty to take from the match: Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland allegedly going off because they were tired, Real Madrid’s clever penalty-taking tactics and whether City could gather themselves to go again.
If you missed any of the aftermath, check out some of Mail Sport’s trending stories from the past few days…
So, what awaits you?
Naturally, all eyes will be on Manchester City’s FA Cup semi-final moments later, with the match kicking off at Wembley at the unusual kick-off time of 5.15pm.
But before that, there’s a battle at the bottom of the Premier League at 3pm that we can keep an eye on.
Sheffield United take on Burnley at Bramall Lane, with the loser almost certain to seal relegation to the Championship next season.
Meanwhile, Luton host Brentford at Kenilworth Road, with the Hatters able to climb out of the relegation zone with a much-needed win.
So who will come out on top today? Let me know in the comments…
