Man City fans will be able to design the club’s third kit for the 2026-27 season… as the Premier League champions make use of Puma’s groundbreaking new AI tool
- Manchester City and Puma let supporters design the club’s third kit
- The winning AI design will be worn on the pitch by City players and sold to fans
- It all starts!: Why can’t Chelsea win the league? They made seven changes and still scored five. Do you think Liverpool could do that?
Manchester City and Puma have teamed up to let City fans design the club’s official third kit for the 2026-2027 season, a groundbreaking first for a professional football club.
The winning AI design will be worn on the pitch by City players and sold to fans.
The first of its kind, the PUMA AI Creator tool is powered by DEEPOBJECTS, a leading co-creation platform that uses generative AI to allow fans to design their dream kits using text prompts, customization tools and intuitive sliders.
By putting the tool in their hands, fans are invited to channel their passion and originality to create bold patterns and unique kit designs.
PUMA AI Creator was first used by City players Ederson, Stefan Ortega and Rico Lewis, who together designed a custom goalkeeper kit. Creatively inspired by the net of a football goal, this will be the first ever AI-crafted football kit to be worn on the pitch later this season.
“It is the first time that I have designed a shirt together with Stefan and Rico and I am so happy that I will see our shirt on the pitch,” said Ederson. ‘It looks great, and not just because I designed it. The colors are beautiful, they remind me of the colors of Brazil,’
Fans can submit designs for the competition until December 20. Together with fans’ ratings, PUMA and Manchester City kit experts will shortlist their top ten designs. Public voting will then begin in January, with fans asked to vote for the kit they want to see on the pitch.

“PUMA AI Creator is one of the ways we see emerging technology bringing fans closer to the game they love,” said Ivan Dashkov, Head of Emerging Marketing Tech at PUMA. ‘I showed a friend of mine from another club and she was like “Oh, this is the kit I want my club to wear” and she started making kits for her club. Fans could come in and start making kits for their own teams and obviously we’re focused on Man City, but it’s cool that people. can come in and play with this tool in different ways,” Dashkov added.
Nuria Tarre, Chief Marketing & Fan Experience Officer of City Football Group said: “This is not the first time we have created something together with fans. Even when we changed our badge a few years ago, we opened it up to fans to vote and entered other competitions. There is always a possibility that fans of other clubs will want to have fun with it. Hopefully it’s a minority. We really believe that the concept of fandom can extend across clubs globally, so as long as they feel involved in trying this out, it’s a good level of engagement for us.

“If this works really well, I think we’ll try to repeat it: can we do limited edition kits? Let’s dream even bigger. Don’t you want to give fans the chance to eventually have their own designed kit? Those are all hypotheses. We are at the beginning of a journey, technology opens doors and we just embrace it and hopefully it opens up plenty of opportunities.”
