A statement from the Premier League champions’ social media account read: ‘Manchester City is aware of the tragic news that one of our supporters has passed away following a medical incident during yesterday’s match.

“The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”

Tributes began pouring in on social media in the aftermath, with scores of fans sending their condolences.
