Stan Collymore has made a joke at Manchester City after Real Madrid’s elimination from the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola’s side lost on penalties to the Spanish giants after their quarter-final draw ended 4-4.

It means there will be no Double Treble for City, who were hoping to make back-to-back Champions League appearances after finally winning the competition for the first time last season.

However, City’s successes in recent years were overshadowed when City was charged last February with 115 alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play rules and regulations, spanning a period from 2009 to 2018.

City deny the allegations and earlier this year the Premier League announced a date had been set for a hearing into the allegations.

However, Collymore – who played in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Leicester and Bradford – was not afraid to mock City following their European exit.

On X he shared photos of Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Celtic winning the European Cup.

At the shots he said: ‘Don’t forget children: you are only a big club if you have won the European Cup, and you are only a very big club if you have done it without cheating.

“Innit fam. Brrraaap braaap.”

Collymore is a boyhood Aston Villa fan and one of his photographs references Villa’s iconic 1981/82 European Cup final win, with Dennis Mortimer lifting the trophy.

Forest have also won the competition twice, in successive campaigns in 1979 and 1980, while in another shot Mail Sport columnist Graeme Souness celebrates the trophy while in Liverpool.

Collymore’s latest allegation at City comes after he called on the Premier League to throw the book at them when they were initially faced with the 115 charges last year.

Speak with Caught offsidehe said: “The sad thing is that if the citizens are found guilty after the investigation is complete, there is a good chance that there will be no real consequences.

‘If the regulatory bodies want to take a real stand, they should start stripping titles because if they did that, every club, not just Man City, found guilty of breaching FFP rules would did this for absolutely nothing.

“And there’s nothing more embarrassing in sports than having your prizes annulled.”
