Man City are in a ‘massive crisis’ and ‘struggling’ Pep Guardiola has ‘no answers’, claims Jamie Carragher after seventh defeat in 10 at Juventus leaves them in danger of Champions League exit
Jamie Carragher has claimed Pep Guardiola has ‘no answers’ to Man City’s ‘massive crisis’ after they suffered yet another defeat.
Guardiola’s side face a battle to stay in the Champions League after Wednesday night’s 2-0 against Juventus left them in 22nd place in the table.
The result against the Italian giants means City have now recorded just one win from their last ten games in all competitions as the pressure mounts on Guardiola.
It is an unprecedented situation for the Spaniard, who recently put pen to paper on a new contract with the Premier League champions.
CBS Sports Pundit Carragher has since insisted Guardiola may regret signing that deal, claiming the City boss currently has ‘no answers’ to their problems.
Carragher said on Wednesday night: ‘You can’t believe what you see! I mean, this is a huge crisis. This was a crisis two or three weeks ago.

‘The greatest and most successful manager of all time… he has no answers right now! He’s tried different systems, players in different positions…
‘He’s never experienced this before, so he has no experience in this situation. Nothing to fall back on – because he has been so successful in the past!
‘I think many coaches around the world look at Pep with a wry smile and think: ‘Finally! Pep Guardiola is experiencing something that we have all experienced at some point in our career!’.’
The top 24 teams in the competition advance to the next round – the top eight skip the play-offs – and City, who won the competition in the 2022-2023 season, are now just one point above the elimination places.
Their next match will be against Paris Saint-Germain away from home, with the French side occupying the first elimination spot, meaning anyone can take part in the final match, which City will play at home to Club Brugge at the end of January.
But Wednesday’s defeat means City have now scored seven times since their League Cup defeat to Tottenham at the end of October, 10 games ago, and there are few signs of their fortunes turning any time soon.
After the match, Guardiola admitted that City are now in a fight to stay in the competition.
“It’s the target,” Guardiola said. ‘We need one point, three points. Go to Paris to try and then the last game at home.

‘This is the situation because of the match against Feyenoord. Feyenoord caused problems when it was 3-0 with fifteen minutes to go.
‘If we turn this around, we will not forget this period. We will appreciate more what we have done and what we will do in the future.”
Guardiola added: ‘I doubt myself in the good and bad moments. The locker room is stable. You have to get up. What can we do? Do you feel sorry for ourselves? It’s life, it happens.’
