Man City 1-1 Everton PLAYER RATINGS: Which star had an afternoon to forget? Who didn’t really seem himself? And which forward was City’s bright spark yet again?

Manchester City drew 1-1 against Everton on Boxing Day.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring for the hosts in the 14th minute after adding the finishing touch with a neat City move to poke past Jordan Pickford.

However, just 22 minutes later the Toffees hit back when Iliman Ndiaye, left alone at the back post, smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

After halftime, City had the chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty after a foul on Savinho, but Erling Haaland saw his effort saved by Pickford.

Both sides had chances to find a winner late on, but ultimately they failed to do so and the points were shared at the Etihad.

Mail Sport’s JACK GAUGHAN was on hand to provide player ratings for both sides.

MANCHESTER CITY

Stefan Ortega-6

Iliman Ndiaye’s equalizer was a stunner, without Ortega being blamed. Seemed frustrated by lack of passing lines at times.

Rico Lewis – 6.5

Excellent before half-time before fading later, possibly a sign he’s been playing too much football lately.

Manuel Akanji – 5.5

I don’t want to see Iliman Ndiaye’s equalizer again, with a leg swing from a cross. Didn’t really seem like himself.

Nathan Ake – 6.5

Big ask for Ake to come on after continued injury problems – and he was forced to leave again late with a hamstring problem. Had played well.

Josko Gvardiol-6

Everton’s positioning prevented Gvardiol from really penetrating attacking areas. I’ve treated Jack Harrison well enough.

John Fury THROWS a glass of water at Darren Till

Mateo Kovačić – 6

Wants to move the ball quickly, but without a large incision. Defensively firmer with Bernardo Silva in tow.

Bernardo Silva-6

Scored the first goal, off Jarrad Branthwaite, before missing a brilliant chance to double the lead.

Savinho-5

It often looked threatening when taking up dangerous positions, but the Brazilian’s final ball flattered to deceive.

Phil Foden-7

Another bright spark, which created two huge chances in the first half. One is still trying to make things happen as the game swings.

Jeremy Doku – 5.5

Assisting with the opener. He spent much of the game in blind alleys and didn’t see any runs off the ball.

Erling Haaland-5

An afternoon to quickly forget. I saw his penalty saved by Jordan Pickford and it never looked like he would score after an early attack from open play.
