A man has been charged after more than a dozen cars and several buildings were defaced with anti-Israel insults in one of Sydney’s wealthiest suburbs.
Celebrity chef Matt Moran’s Chiswick restaurant was among several properties destroyed in the attack in Woollahra at 12.35pm on Thursday.
Several cars were covered in white spray paint reading “f**k Israel” while one car was set on fire.
NSW Police launched a manhunt for two people following the vandalism.
A spokesperson announced on Monday that a 20-year-old man had been arrested in Mascot, a 20-minute drive away.
He was taken to a police station and charged with 21 offences, including 14 counts of destroying or damaging property.
Three charges entering a building with intent to commit a criminal offence, two men destroying property in the business, using fire, face blackened/disguised to commit a criminal offense and behaving in an offensive manner in public were some of the other charges.
He was refused bail and will appear at Downing Center Local Court on Monday.
