Man charged after boy was allegedly hit by car during camping trip on the Sunshine Coast

A man has been charged in connection with the death of a five-year-old boy during a family camping trip.

Five-year-old Jack Noel Stephen Brown was reportedly run over on a private property in Blackbutt North on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in July.

A 44-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police declined to provide further details about the allegations but are preparing a report for the coroner.

The incident took place in Blackbutt North in Queensland’s South Burnett region, where the family was camping.

IIt is believed he was playing behind the vehicle when it allegedly hit him, with the boy’s parents witnessing the incident.

Jack’s funeral took place in July, where he said goodbye to parents Jim and Carla Brown and older brother Parker, who is eight years old.

a GoFundMe created by Sara Beath described the tragedy as ‘absolutely incomprehensible and beyond unbearable’.

“Jack’s passing leaves an insurmountable path for Jim, Carla and eight-year-old Parker,” she wrote.

‘It is with sadness that this Go Fund Me has been set up to enable those rallying around Jim, Carla and Parker at this devastating time to contribute towards the costs they will incur as a result of this unimaginable tragedy.’

The page had raised just over $40,000 of its $50,000 goal as of Thursday morning.
