A man broke into a family’s home and watched their baby sleep, drink a beer, eat some cheese and play with their dogs, before strangely leaving empty-handed.
The intruder broke into Tom and Isabella Ridgewell’s home in Tweed Heads, northern NSW, on Friday night while the couple and their six-month-old daughter were all asleep.
CCTV shows the stranger lurking around their home, entering their bedroom and even sitting on the living room sofa under a blanket.
He ate half a block of Parmesan cheese and drank some beer while inside.
He was eventually caught by Mr. Ridgewell when he returned to the bedroom for a second time, before being chased out of the house with a baseball bat.

Mr Ridgewell said the intruder had every chance of stealing something, but instead left with nothing.
“He just lay down on the couch, tucked himself in to make himself comfortable,” Mr Ridgewell recalled Nine news.
“He ate half a block of Parmesan cheese and just left it, he had a beer.
“He had every opportunity to take what we have and nothing. It was almost like he was home, the way he behaved.’

Adding to the terror of the night, Mr. Ridgewell said he had no idea how the man could have broken into his house.
Even after being confronted by the father, the man seemed unfazed by the encounter and was seen casually walking out of the house.
The couple called police and were told they had received reports of a “delusional man” in the area who matched their intruder’s description.
The police said in a statement that officers have been sent to explore the area.
