A young woman felt “horrified” and “frustrated” after a man with a bizarre “zipper fetish” messaged her on Facebook Marketplace.
The 26-year-old Sydney woman sold an Abrand wide-leg jeans that no longer fit and was curious as to why a man was interested in buying women’s trousers.
The woman told FEMAIL that alarm bells started ringing when the man asked about the zipper on the jeans and offered to pay more money.
He also asked if she was interested in selling other old jeans with the same zipper for “a high price.”

The woman told FEMAIL that alarm bells started ringing when the man asked about the zipper on the jeans and offered to pay more money. The zipper was marked with the letters ‘YKK’ on the metal – this is the most common type of zipper used worldwide
‘Can you send me a picture of its zipper, if that’s possible? I’m happy to pay what you want if you want more for it,” the man wrote with two smiley emojis and later added, “The metal zipper itself has letters stamped there.”
The zipper was marked with the letters ‘YKK’ on the metal – the most common type of zipper used worldwide.
The woman assumed the man was buying the jeans for his girlfriend or to take them apart, but something didn’t seem quite right.
At the time, she wasn’t sure if the man was wasting her time or not, but he kept messaging her asking when the jeans can be shipped or picked up.

The man felt uncomfortable and offered an explanation as long as there was “no judgment” for her.
“I assume you are curious about the reason for the zipper, I hope there is no judgment,” the man wrote.
The woman was curious but “didn’t want to be rude and ask” because “it’s none of her business”.
In response, the man said, “I love YKK zippers on women’s jeans so much. I hope that’s okay.’

The woman felt “robbed” and didn’t know how to respond and quickly googled zip fetishes instead.
She came across a news article from news.com.au published in 2018 about some women who had a similar encounter with a scary man on Facebook Marketplace.
The man said he loves the “sweet” taste of the YKK zippers.
With this new knowledge of the strange fetish, the woman could only imagine the man’s intentions with her second-hand jeans.
The last interaction was on Monday and she hasn’t messaged him since.
