Man asks if he’s wrong to ask influencer girlfriend to move out so he doesn’t have to be in videos

A man is wondering if he’s wrong for asking his influencer girlfriend to leave his house after she continuously videotaped their private moments.

The unnamed man took to Reddit to reveal that he and his lover – whose name he did not share – had been living together for two years.

Although things went smoothly for most of their relationship, the couple found themselves in murky waters when his girlfriend decided to pursue a career as an influencer.

In a Reddit thread titled ‘Am I the hole?‘, the user admitted that he was ‘tired’ of his girlfriend always shoving a camera in his face – adding that he eventually got tired of the constant screen time.

The unnamed man revealed he begged his girlfriend to move out because things had ‘gotten out of hand’, but it led to a furious row.

The post was titled: ‘Am I the asshole for asking my girlfriend to move out because she started a career as an influencer and stopped respecting my privacy?’

He explained: ‘I’ve been living with my girlfriend for two years. At first everything was great: we got along well, spent time together and had a good balance between our personal and couple lives. But a few months ago, she started building a career as an influencer.

‘At first it was just a fun hobby for her: a few photos, a few videos, nothing over the top. I always supported her and was proud that she found something she loved.”

However, what seemed like a fun way to pass the time quickly took over both of their lives and made the social media user miserable.

He added: “However, things quickly got out of hand. Our apartment has become her personal studio. Every corner must be perfectly composed for photos, every room a potential backdrop for her vlogs.

‘When I come home tired from work, all I want to do is relax, but straight away there’s a camera in my face because she’s ‘filming content’. Even our private conversations are often recorded without my prior consent – and then I find them in her videos.

“It became especially awkward when she posted part of a conversation where I shared something very personal that I didn’t expect to be made public.”

The man repeatedly tried to discuss the ongoing issue with his girlfriend, but she often “brushed it off” and claimed it was “just part of her job.”

He finally reached his tipping point when he was ‘caught’ on camera again, despite asking her to keep him off the screen.

‘A few days ago, after yet another incident where I came home and was ‘caught’ on camera, I decided to have a serious conversation with her. I told her that I understand that her influencer career is an important part of her life now, but for me it is too much.

“I suggested that maybe she should consider moving out—not because I want to break up with her, but because I need a private space where I don’t feel like I’m being watched all the time,” he said.

Although he made it clear that he still wanted to be in a relationship with her, his girlfriend was furious.

He admitted: ‘She freaked out. She said I was selfish, that I didn’t support her career and that I was trying to control her. She accused me of sabotaging her success instead of being proud of what she has accomplished.

‘Now we hardly talk anymore, and I feel like my boundaries and needs are not respected at all. On the one hand, I understand that her job excites her, but on the other hand, am I really one of those people who just wants some privacy and space in my own home?’

At the end of the post, he wondered if he was an “asshole” for asking her to find another place to live.

People on the internet flooded the comments section and came to his defense in droves while criticizing his girlfriend for her behavior.

One person said, “No, you’re not the hole here at all. She’s delusional if she accuses you of this. She shows that she doesn’t respect your boundaries.’

Someone else wrote: ‘You’re not the asshole who wants privacy in your own home. It is perfectly reasonable to expect a living space that is free from constant filming and recording, especially without your express permission.”

Another user added: ‘Not the hole. Your girlfriend is selfish and ignorant because she doesn’t respect your privacy. She also had no right to publish the personal conversation you mentioned without first obtaining your permission. She’s using you in a way you don’t have to tolerate, so it’s clear she’s the asshole.”

“Not the hole, people like her suck the life out of everyone else,” someone else commented.
