Man arrested after Westfield Fountain Gate shoppers injured in alleged knife attack

A man has been arrested after allegedly slashing three people with a box cutter at a bus stop outside a busy shopping centre.
The terrifying scenes unfolded at Westfield Fountain Gate in Narre Warren, Melbourne’s south-east, shortly before 2.30pm on Tuesday.
Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene after reports that three people had been injured.
Two men and a woman were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspected armed man, 30, is accused of fleeing the scene before being located by police and arrested a short time later in Westfield.
Witnesses reported that the man, who was covered in blood, reportedly tried to hide in the toilets. The Herald Sun reports.
‘A [alleged] knife attack at the bus stop and [a] huge police presence,” one bystander wrote online.
“They arrested the man with blood on his face [allegedly] from the toilet for Coles.’
A Narre Warren man, 30, has since been charged with recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault and possessing a controlled weapon.
He was bailed to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates Court in February.
The 30-year-old man is said to have fled the scene before being arrested by police in Westfied a short time later (stock image)
