Man arrested outside Taylor Swift’s Manhattan townhouse reportedly spotted there about 30 times
NEW YORK — A man charged with stalking and harassment after his arrest near singer Taylor Swift’s Manhattan mansion was seen there dozens of times over the past two months and was repeatedly asked to leave, according to court documents released Wednesday .
David Crowe, 33, of Seattle was taken into custody Monday evening by officers responding to complaints of an emotionally disturbed man behaving erratically near Swift’s home in the exclusive Tribeca neighborhood, a New York Police Department spokesman said.
Crowe was charged Wednesday with stalking and harassment and released under supervised release. The prosecutor’s request for a protective order was granted, according to a spokesman for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, Alvin Bragg.
The complaint against Crowe says an unknown security guard has seen him near Swift’s mansion about 30 times since Nov. 25. Crowe was asked approximately 10 times not to approach or leave the building, according to the complaint.
In seeking supervised release, Assistant District Attorney Harriet Jiranek said Crowe’s “continued conduct in appearing at this location, despite numerous instructions to leave, demonstrates a clear risk that the suspect will not comply with court orders to to return to court. ”
The Associated Press left a telephone message seeking comment with Crowe’s attorney in the public defender’s office.
It was unclear whether Swift was home Monday when Crowe was taken into custody. The AP sent an email seeking comment to a representative for the singer on Tuesday.
Swift was in the Buffalo, New York area on Sunday, where her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, played against the Buffalo Bills in an NFL playoff game. The Chiefs won 27-24.
Swift’s Manhattan mansion has been the scene of several burglaries when Swift was not there, including by some identified as stalkers.
