Man arrested near Taylor Swift’s NYC townhouse after reported break-in attempt

NEW YORK — NEW YORK (AP) — Taylor Swift’s New York City mansion appears to have been the target of another burglary attempt, this time by a man arrested Saturday near the singer’s home in Tribeca, when police responded to a report of a disorderly person.

Witnesses say the man tried but failed to enter the mansion in the early afternoon, the New York Post reported.

Police would not confirm a burglary attempt at Swift’s home, but officers arrested a man on the same street when they were told he was trying to open a building door, an NYPD spokesperson said Sunday. The man was charged on an unrelated 2017 Brooklyn arrest warrant for allegedly failing to respond to a summons, the spokesperson said.

Authorities have not released the man’s name.

An email seeking comment was sent to a representative for the “You Belong With Me” singer on Sunday. It was not clear if she was in the house at the time. She traveled to the Buffalo, New York area on Sunday, where her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, was scheduled to play against the Buffalo Bills in an NFL playoff game in the evening.

The Tribeca mansion has been the scene of several other burglaries and attempts when Swift wasn’t there, including some by alleged stalkers.

In 2022, a man was charged with trespassing and stalking after authorities said he entered two Tribeca homes associated with Swift. Also that year, a man was arrested for crashing a car into the mansion. He reportedly told police he would not leave until he met Swift.

In 2018, another man broke into her townhouse and took a nap, police said. The same man was charged with another burglary at the building a year later after serving a prison sentence.

Police say alleged stalkers have also been arrested at several of her other homes, including those in Beverly Hills, California, and Watch Hill, Rhode Island.
