A man has died after “acting erratically” while being held in a police vehicle north of Brisbane.

Queensland police officers were responding to reports of a disturbance in Beachmere on Friday when they spotted the 37-year-old.

He was arrested after behaving erratically and officers placed him in the back of their vehicle.

“The man continued to act increasingly erratically, prompting officers to subsequently remove the man from the vehicle and provide him with medical attention,” a police statement said.

The man was taken to Caboolture Hospital where he later died.

“The State Coroner has been notified and the Ethics Committee is investigating,” the police statement said.
