Man, 20, charged with assault and making a false report to police following bizarre allegation after staging of the Bathurst 1000

A 20-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a woman and making a false report to police following the staging of the Bathurst 1000.

It follows an investigation after the man alleged he was attacked by three other men in central west NSW at around 4.15am on October 14.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to the scene and took the man and a woman to Bathurst Hospital.

They were later discharged and traveled on the highway.

Following a police investigation, the man, 20, was given a future court summons for common assault and false representation, resulting in a police investigation.

He will appear in Bathurst Local Court on December 11.

In a shocking twist, NSW police will accuse in court that the man who claimed he was the victim attacked a woman known to him.

He then allegedly filed a false report with the police.

A police investigation has revealed that a 20-year-old man is accused of assaulting a woman and filing a false police report.

It follows Erebus driver Brodie Kostecki who took his first victory in the famous Mount Panorama race on October 13, beating rival Broc Heeney in the six-hour marathon.

But unsavory allegations emerged after the race, with Kostecki claiming an engineer from his crew was taken to hospital after being violently attacked while celebrating victory.

“It was a pretty good evening with the team,” said the driver. “Unfortunately, we had an incident where one of our crew members went into the hospital and was attacked.”

When asked for details about the incident, he said: “One of our crew members was unfortunately attacked last night.

‘It’s quite disappointing and kind of ruins the evening.

‘We wish Sam all the best and hopefully he recovers quickly, together with his partner.’

Several crew members celebrated at the Oxford Hotel in Bathurst, NSW, after the win, with the alleged incident taking place around 4.15am on Monday, according to Sky News.

NSW Police released a statement saying they were investigating the reports, but later said they were “confident” the man had not been assaulted after reviewing CCTV footage.

The bizarre vision shows a man appearing to walk down William Street in Bathurst, accompanied by a woman.

It appears he hit himself in the head several times with his hands before falling to the sidewalk in front of the woman.

“Police said that while they are still concluding their investigation, they are confident no attack has taken place,” Seven News reported.

“Police have confirmed that the man has left hospital.”

The development comes after the Australian Transport and Safety Bureau (ATSB) launched an investigation into a plane crashing into a wall on the runway while presenting the trophy on Sunday.

After landing, the Extra Flugzeugbau EA300 aircraft appeared to bank to the left onto a patch of grass on the left side of the runway, before turning right towards a concrete wall.

As the plane approached the wall, the pilot was seen on Fox Motorsport’s live coverage of the event swinging the nose of the plane away from the barrier.

The tail of the craft turned and made contact with the wall and some debris fell from the aircraft.

On Tuesday, the ATSB deemed the moment a “serious incident”, before revealing that the organization will interview the pilot and issue a report on whether the incident raised critical safety concerns.
