- An 18-year-old man was arrested on Thursday
A third man has been charged with the shocking gangland murder of a father and son who were shot dead as they left their home in western Sydney.
Salim Hamze, 18, and his father Toufik, 64, were killed by a hail of bullets on 20 October 2021 while sitting in the front seat of a red service in Guildford.
The 18-year-old, believed to be a low player in Sydney’s underworld, died at the scene while his father was taken to hospital, where he later died.
Two men – aged 20 and 25 – have previously been charged with their alleged involvement in the murders and remain in court.
Now an 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder and one count of joining gangs that contribute to criminal activity.
Police believe the teen was involved in planning the murders.

In early 2022, police seized a gray Ford Mustang that they say had been used as a getaway car after the Hamzes were shot (pictured, the Ford Mustang being inspected by forensic officers)
The man was arrested by Detectives from Strike Force Ormero and taken to Gosford Police Station in the NSW Central Coast on Thursday morning.
He has been taken into custody and will appear before a juvenile court on Friday.
Salim and Toufik Hamze were shot dead in a hail of bullets as they prepared to leave their western Sydney home in October 2021.
Police believe Salim was the intended target and his father was collateral damage. They say they are not aware of any criminal involvement of the murdered father.

A burnt-out Lexus SUV that would have been used as the first getaway car by those involved was also seized by the police.
Both vehicles have since been forensically examined.

In July, another appeal was made by the police for information about the cars.
Superintendent Danny Doherty said some people “have not fully come forward” with information.
“We know there are people who know information who may have used these cars before the murder, or heard something since the murder,” he said.
“People probably have opinions about some of the victims of the murders, but you have a loving family of an innocent 64-year-old man and also an 18-year-old.”

In November, a second man, 20, was charged in the incident, just months after a 25-year-old man was charged for his alleged role in brutal murders.
The 20-year-old was arrested at a Grafton prison, in northeastern NSW.
He was charged with two counts of murder, with police claiming he was directly involved in coordinating the cars used in the shooting.
Both men remain in court.
