Mama Mia! Italians are notoriously irritable when it comes to Brits tampering with their classic dishes – and smothering your pasta in ketchup tops the list of no-nos.
According to a poll, a whopping 78 percent of Italians called pineapple on pizza the worst culinary horror, followed by pineapple on pizza (67 percent).
The research found a huge divide in the way each country cooks and eats pasta, pizza and other staples, with Italians labeling our efforts an ‘abomination’.

Pineapple on pizza came in second on the list, while serving the dish with garlic bread also annoyed 18 percent of respondents
Throwing pasta against the wall to see if it sticks and is cooked through (53 percent) and adding cream to carbonara sauce (49 percent) also make the top ten.
Serving garlic bread with pizza was the least offensive, but still irritated 18 percent of Italians.
The research was conducted by the Italian food company Napolina.
