‘Mama June’ Shannon appeared to cut off her daughters in a clip for the next episode of Mama June: Family Crisis.
In a video obtained by Peoplethe 44-year-old reality star rejected her daughter Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird after urging her to contribute to June’s youngest daughter Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson’s college fund.
June previously said she feared Alana would “crash” if she moved to Colorado for college.
In the new clip, Mama June wasn’t seen on camera, instead focusing on Pumpkin as she called her mother on the phone.
With her hair still wet after a bath and wrapped in a towel, 24-year-old Pumpkin called her mother as she relaxed on her bed.
“Mama June” Shannon, 44, appeared to refuse to pay for her daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, 18, to attend college in Colorado in a new clip from Mama June: Family Crisis obtained by People
Her daughter Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird (L), 24, who has full custody of Alana, called June to persuade her mother to contribute to Alana’s college fund, but she was turned down
After saying she “relaxed” after her bath, June replied, “I wish I could relax.”
Pumpkin used that to kick off her difficult conversation.
“Well, damn, I’m done relaxing now. “I called to tell you that me and (husband) Josh (Efird) have decided that we are going to take Alana to Colorado,” she said.
June sounded like she didn’t think that was wise for the teenager.
“She really needs to do something to get her affairs in order,” she said.
“I know, Mom. So the most important thing you need to do is call and inquire about that Coogan account,” Lauryn responded, seemingly referring to an account required for child performers, where their parents are required to set aside a percentage of the child’s earnings to ensuring that they will have at least some of their income available once they reach adulthood.
The bills were first created into law in California and have since spread after former child actor Jackie Coogan learned that his parents had pocketed and spent all of his earnings from his film work, leaving him destitute as an adult, although he still did. work as an actor in later decades.
Alana would only have access to the money in her account once she turned 18.
Pumpkin (pictured) told her mother that the payments were due soon and asked her to contribute to Alana’s Coogan account, a fund needed by child entertainers that sets aside a percentage of their income so parents can’t spend it all
“If she can’t invest in herself, why should I? What money are you and Josh willing to pay?” June shot back about Alana (photo)
“You’re not asking for any money and her college expenses are due soon,” Pumpkin continued.
“And I know that,” June replied coolly.
“So I mean you’re still not going to do anything, like, even if we find her house and go to college and stuff, you’re not going to help pay for anything?” Lauryn continued.
“If she can’t invest in herself, why should I? What money are you and Josh willing to pay?” June shot back.
Pumpkin replied that she wasn’t Alana’s “mother,” but June wasn’t satisfied.
“But you said you were a mother, and you raised her and all, so don’t even try that,” she said.
However, Pumpkin filed for full custody of Alana in 2022 after her younger sister moved in with her and her family in 2019, when June was arrested on charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
She was sentenced to 100 hours of community service in August 2021, but continued to attend therapy sessions to repair her relationship with her daughters after spending years wild while under the spell of her ex-boyfriend Geno Doak.
June seemed angry that Pumpkin had custody of Alana and therefore did not want to contribute, although Pumpkin only took Alana in after June was arrested for drug possession and became addicted.
After the call, Pumpkin told her husband Josh how they raised and supported Alana for “four years” while her mother struggled to get her life in order.
Because of the way she cared for Alana, Pumpkin said her mother “missed the whole point.”
“The thing is, you’re not willing to help at all, and it makes Alana think you don’t believe in her,” she explained. “I mean, are you saying we just had the money to fly to Colorado? We do that because we believe in her. That’s what a mother does.’
“I understand that, but as a mother I can also express my concerns,” Mama June replied.
After the conversation ended, Lauryn turned to her husband Josh to vent about the tense conversation.
“You won’t fucking believe what Mom just did,” she seethed. “Mom has the audacity to say, ‘Well, you all just want to ask me for the money for college or first semester and stuff, and I don’t fucking have it.’ She says, “What the hell are you and Josh going to do?” Like, I’ve done everything.”
Josh added that they had supported and cared for Alana for the past “four years,” although June was expected to pay $800 a month in child support until her daughter turned 18.
Pumpkin thought her mother was only concerned about the money she was asked to contribute to her daughter.
‘Oh no, it’s the support she’s worried about. She’s worried about the money we’re going to spend on it, she’s worried about that, because God forbid someone dips into her change,” she vented.
“I’m literally about to send her to college. What did you do to get that process started, June?’ she said to herself.
Josh added that he expected June to do more, if only out of guilt and obligation.
In last week’s episode, June seemed concerned about Alana moving out of state after not seeing much of her in recent years. The next episode of Mama June: Family Crisis airs March 15 at 9 PM ET
“You know, after the amount of s*** June put Alana through, you thought she’d want to pay for all of college, or at least a semester or two, but no, no,” he added in a tone. confessional interview. ‘I don’t see her voluntarily contributing anything. It’s selfish, you know, that’s what I mean.”
On last week’s episode, Alana confirmed her desire to attend college in Colorado, and after learning she would have to pay $11,000 per semester to do so, she suggested the idea of tapping into her Coogan account to pay for tuition. help pay.
But June revisited the idea, seemingly out of guilt over not being with her daughter much in recent years, even after seemingly recovering from her battle with drug addiction and finding a new husband.
