was informed by TMZ that the 43-year-old mother of four is nurturing the bond with her 28-year-old daughter, though their relationship has been strained in recent years.

Insiders told the site that Mama June and Cardwell had started to repair their relationship about a year ago, but are much closer now.

In 2021, Anna was candid about putting distance between herself and her mother when June began an affair with Mark McDaniel, who Anna said sexually assaulted her as a teenager.

Now the two are putting the past behind them as June does things like babysit for Anna to help her cope with her new reality.

It was also noted that June has been accompanying Anna to her medical appointments because she “wants her daughter to know that she has a support system.”

Cardwell underwent her first chemotherapy session last month to stage 4 cancer in his liver, kidneys and lungs after he was diagnosed in January with a rare adrenal carcinoma.

Doctors are now monitoring his progress before making any decisions regarding further treatment.

Mama June Shannon’s eldest daughter reported experiencing stomach pains before getting tested and diagnosed.

In recent images, Anna appeared with her eldest daughter, Kaitlyn, 10, as the rest of the family supports her and holds out hope.

The TLC alum also took photos in the middle of treatment at a Georgia hospital.

On Thursday, her 17-year-old sister, Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson, took to Instagram to confirm the devastating diagnosis by sharing an article published by TMZ.

Thompson wrote alongside a screenshot of the post: “This is what I mean when I say you never really know what someone at home is going through.” It doesn’t matter how famous they are.

“Yes, I am very famous, but normal things happen to me and my family and everyone needs to realize that as soon as possible,” she added.

According to the American Cancer Society, adrenocortical carcinoma, also known as cancer of the adrenal cortex, is a disease that affects approximately 200 Americans each year.

Sources close to the family report that everyone is “very hopeful” that Cardwell pulls through and overcomes the rare disease.

They also revealed that the family, as well as Anna’s boyfriend Eldridge Toney, are coming together to care for Anna and their two children, 8-year-old Kaitlyn and Kylee.

Cardwell first appeared on the 2009 TLC series Toddlers and Tiaras alongside her now-teenage sister Alana and their family.

In 2012, Alana received a spin-off series titled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, starring her entire family.

Cardwell welcomed daughter Kaitlyn in 2012 and married then-boyfriend Michael Cardwell two years later. She called it quits in 2017.
