Mama June: Family Crisis: Matriarch reveals ‘biggest fear’ daughter Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell had while dying of cancer

Mama June revealed her daughter Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell’s ‘biggest fear’ about her death – amid Chickadee’s final decline from cancer.

Chickadee succumbed to her illness last December, letting reality TV cameras capture her on her deathbed in her final hours.

Now, the episodes of Mama June: Family Crisis that documented her final months are finally airing, including this week’s heartbreaking episode.

June was seen taking Chickadee with her to undergo home hospice care after immunotherapy and radiation failed to halt the cancer’s progression.

In a devastating confessional on June 44, Chickadee told the public about Chickadee’s concerns about how she might die.

I know Anna’s biggest fear is going to sleep at night and dying in her sleep,” says Mama June, whose full name is June Shannon.

June and her new husband Justin Stroud – who she met while in rehab for her past drug addiction – stayed with Chicakdee at her home overnight to give her company.

‘All night long, Anna was calling me in panic and sending messages to the doctors. She hadn’t slept in days,” the devastated mother revealed.

Chickadee and her daughters Kaitlyn, 11, and Kylee, eight, eventually arrived at June’s house, brought by Chickadee’s husband Eldridge Toney.

“She wanted me to call hospice first thing this morning, and I did,” June said. “I moved mountains to get the doctors to finally sign off on hospice and I think that was the best decision she made.”

Chickadee had come to the conclusion that “her body is tired” and all she wanted now was to “spend the rest of her days with her family.”

June said, “There’s noise, you know, that’s what Anna wanted. She wanted to be with family, and we give her what she wants, and that’s the way it will be.”

Although June and another of her daughters Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird have had an explosive feud, they put it aside for Chickadee.

Although June and another of her daughters Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird have had an explosive feud, they put it aside for Chickadee.

The patient wanted her family to be by her side as she died, so Pumpkin and June put their enmity on the back burner to fulfill her request.

After Chickadee died, insiders told TMZ that the last three weeks of her life, which she spent in hospice, would be shown in the TV series with Chickadee’s approval.

Apparently Chickadee wanted to help viewers understand the experiences of cancer patients, so she kept the camera crew with her until her final hours.

However, the team behind the reality show refused to film her death and will not film her funeral, in the interests of the family to grieve privately.
