Make drinks for magical creatures in this cozy Coffee Talk and D&D-inspired visual novel

Gentle Giant Entertainment has unveiled its brand new visual novel Tavern conversationwith which you can make all kinds of potions for magical creatures.

The indie studio announced its upcoming game along with a new trailer showing off its stunning 2D art style and diverse characters, set in a fantasy tavern called Wayfarer’s Inn in the world of Asteria.

Inspired by Toge Productions’ Coffee conversation and tabletop RPGs like Dungeons and Dragonsplayers can listen to ‘tales of glory and failure’, brew and serve magic-infused potions that can influence the fates of your clients, and aid adventurers in their quests.

The visual novel also features three alternate endings – along with one hidden ending – depending on players’ choices, and as adventurers return from their quests you’ll earn trinkets to display in your tavern.

In addition to taking care of customers as an innkeeper, you are also tasked with piecing together fragments in your study to discover the secrets of an ancient evil that threatens the land of Asteria.

The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but Gentle Giant has released a free demo Steam where players can experience an hour of the game’s total playtime of 10 hours and meet five characters from the cast.

Gentle Giant has one Kickstarter campaign that will help polish Tavern conversation, and hopes to eventually bring the game to the Nintendo Switch if it can beat any of its early targets.

The required threshold for the Nintendo Switch port is €40,000 (approximately $42,271), and at the time of writing this has almost been exceeded. After crossing the €30,000 (approximately $31,714 / £26,109) mark, players can look forward to an additional character joining the cast, named Jade.

The campaign already has 756 backers, has surpassed its initial goal of €20,000 (approximately $21,135 / £17,371) and currently stands at €35,696 (approximately $37,722 / £31,005), so it looks like the game is already receiving huge support.
