Major update on nine-month-old baby stabbed in Westfield Bondi Junction attack that killed her mother and five others

A nine-month-old baby who was stabbed during the horrific attack at Westfield Bondi Junction has been released from hospital.

NSW Health Minister Ryan Park made the announcement on Sunday, revealing the baby would continue to receive treatment.

“It is a positive development that I can confirm that the child who received care at Sydney Children’s Hospital following last weekend’s tragic events in Bondi Junction has been discharged home,” Park said in a statement.

“She continues to receive care from the expert doctors at Sydney Children’s Hospital.”

A candlelight vigil will be held in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Sunday for the victims of the Bondi Junction attack, which shocked the nation

The baby’s mother, osteopath Ashlee Good, 38, was one of six people killed in the horrific attack in Sydney’s eastern suburbs last Saturday.

Dawn Singleton, 25, Jade Young, 47, Pikria Darchia, 55, and Yixuan Cheng, 27, and security guard Faraz Tahir, 30, were the other five victims.

Lone knifeman Joel Cauchi, 40, stabbed a further twelve innocent customers during the terrifying rampage.

The NSW Government and Waverley Council have organized a candlelight vigil at Dolphin Court on Bondi Beach at 5pm on Sunday afternoon.

During the vigil, a minute’s silence will be observed and people are asked to bring their own candles.

“I think if we can stand together during the tough times, we can send a message that there are far more good people in this city than there are bad actors and evil,” NSW Premier Chris Minns said on Saturday.

“Those who have lost loved ones have unanimously said they can feel the support of the community behind them and know they are not alone.”

Mr Minns said the vigil would be an opportunity to “stand with those who have lost loved ones and to remember those who have lost their lives”.

Mr Tahir, who came to Australia after fleeing persecution in Pakistan, was killed while trying to protect shoppers from Cauchi.

“He is a hero not only for us, but for the entire nation,” said Adnan Qadir, national chairman of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association.

Police Officer Ashley Wildey is mourning the loss of his fiancée Dawn Singleton

“We are here in large numbers to continue the legacy of Faraz by reflecting on his bravery and courage, and by empowering our youth that they too should always be ready to help others and most importantly this beautiful country to serve.’

Counselors and support services have been made available to first responders who responded to several violent attacks in Sydney this week.

Ms Singleton, 25, daughter of multi-millionaire advertising guru John Singleton, was due to marry her high school sweetheart Ashley Wildey when she was stabbed.

Friends and colleagues from the police rallied around the shattered Mr Wildey and have hardly left his side over the past week.

Although it is still early, friends say he is a “tough guy” and hope he will eventually return to the force.

“His police mates were really good – the boys brought burgers, chips and cokes and stayed with him, talking and making sure he knew he was supported,” a close family friend told The Daily Telegraph.

‘They don’t want to lose him. He is very good at his job.

‘He always wanted to help people. He is young and I know he has already helped solve a number of cases.’

The friend added that Mr Wildey visited Ms Singleton’s mother, Julie, on Wednesday to pay his respects.
