Heavy fog has blanketed Sydney’s skyline with travelers planning to cross the harbor in a ferry forced to wait for the weather to clear.

Sydney Ferries sent out a tweet advising passengers that four services scheduled to depart before 8am were canceled due to the fog.

“Due to heavy fog, the 07:07am Circular Quay to Parramatta in Barangaroo will finish and the 07:38am Parramatta to Circular Quay ferry will commence at 07:58am from Sydney Olympic Park,” the tweet read just after 7am was posted.

Minutes later, the transport service sent an update that the ’07:38 am Sydney Olympic Park to Circular Quay service has been canceled due to heavy fog’.

Travelers are advised to make alternative arrangements or to allow ample extra travel time.

Many Sydneysider took to social media to capture the thick winter fog, which the Bureau of Meteorology says will dissipate into a partly cloudy day by mid-morning.
