Major development in case of Queensland-based footy star who was accused of raping a woman

  • A footy star will not be charged by police, according to a report
  • The Queensland player was the subject of a rape investigation
  • However, the woman allegedly involved has withdrawn her complaint

The Queensland-based NRL star accused of raping a woman will not be charged by police, according to a report.

Police will reportedly not press charges against the footy star after a woman withdrew a complaint against him, the Courier Mail reports.

The State of Origin star was the subject of a Queensland police investigation last week in a development that rocked the NRL’s Magic Round. He denies the accusation.

The player is currently contracted to one of the four NRL clubs in Queensland.

Officers visited the star’s home last week to question him about an alleged rape.

The same outlet claims the NRL player and the woman had been drinking heavily on the night of the alleged incident.

The woman later filed a formal complaint with police, claiming she had been digitally raped.

The player’s club was notified of the alleged incident and reported it to the NRL integrity unit, a standard measure in off-field matters involving a player contracted to their club.

It has been reported that the Queensland club is satisfied with the player’s version of events, insisting no sexual abuse took place. The club has also been in discussions with the police.

No charges have been filed against the player, who denies the allegations.
