Major blow for ailing Biden as FIVE more Democrats urge him to step aside in private call – and reveal who they think should be presidential nominee

Democratic lawmakers held a crisis call Sunday afternoon to discuss the viability of President Joe Biden as their 2024 nominee amid mounting concerns about their own political futures in November.

At least five other Democratic lawmakers reportedly called on the 81-year-old Biden to step aside during the call.

And most agreed that Vice President Kamala Harris, 59, should be the nominee.

House Judiciary Committee member Jerry Nadler and House Veterans Affairs Committee member Mark Takano are among those who have said they want Biden to end his run for the White House.

Reps. Don Beyer, Adam Smith and Joseph Morelle, the top Democrat on the House Administration Committee, also said Biden is done.

“On Monday, when Congress reconvenes, all hell is going to break loose,” a House Democrat said in a recent report.

They added: ‘People are afraid of their own race. But they are also worried about the country and about democracy.’

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) is also organizing a group of senatorial Democrats to discuss Biden’s future. He wants them to meet Monday night.

This follows reports that Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) has begun organizing a group of senatorial Democrats to discuss Biden’s future.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) told NBC’s Meet the Press during an interview Sunday: “The performance on the debate stage, I think, rightly raised questions among the American people about whether the president has the strength to defeat Donald Trump. And this is an existential race.”

“He should be wiping the floor with Donald Trump. Joe Biden is running against a criminal. It shouldn’t even be close. And there’s only one reason it’s close — and that’s the president’s age,” the California Democrat added.

Democratic lawmakers are increasingly concerned about their November elections and are likely to increase calls this week for President Joe Biden to withdraw from the race.

“And what I would advise the president to do is to get the opinions of people you trust. He’s clearly talked to his family about this… but he should seek out people with some distance and objectivity.

“He needs to find pollsters who aren’t his own pollsters.”

“Take a moment to make the best informed judgment. And when the judgment is executed – run and beat that SOB.”
