Major 90s TV star is unrecognisable in rare Australian TV appearance… but can YOU guess who it is?

A huge TV star from the ’90s was almost unrecognisable when she made a rare appearance on Australian screens this week.

The famous American actress was a guest on Channel Nine’s Today Extra on Tuesday to look back with nostalgia on her most famous role in a world-famous drama.

Speaking to presenters Belinda Russell and Tim Davies, she talked about her successful TV career and looked noticeably different from the 90s.

The 43-year-old was known for her striking fringe, but for her TV appearance she showed off a new look.

She’s ditched her statement bangs and is now showing off her darker, brunette locks, after years of going blonde since her TV fame.

But do you know who it is?

Yes, it’s Beverly Mitchell!

The actress is probably best known for her role as Lucy Camden on 7th Heaven, appearing in 242 episodes of the popular drama between 1996 and 2007.

She starred in the series alongside Hollywood star Jessica Biel, who took on the lead role of Mary Camden.

The hit series followed a pastor, played by disgraced actor Stephen Collins, and his wife as they deal with the ups and downs of raising their five children in California.

Beverley is also known for her role in the TV series The Secret Life of the American Teenager and her roles in the major films Saw II and Right on Track.

Beverley recently starred in her own reality series Keeping it Real, as well as the 2018 horror film Blood Pageant and a series of Christmas films.

Beverley got nostalgic during her Today Extra interview where she discussed her upcoming appearance at 90s Con in Daytona Beach.

She will meet her 7th Heaven co-stars again at the fan convention and during the conversation she will look back on her days in the American family drama.

Beverley described her 7th Heaven colleagues as ‘family’ and shared how much fun it is to spend time with them at fan events.

“It’s nice to be back with the family, the TV family at these conventions,” she said.

“It’s so much fun, we love each other so much and it’s a great excuse to be together. It’s magical because we get to meet the fans and it’s so humbling to see how many lives we’ve touched.

“I honestly feel like they’re giving us the gift. They think we’re the gift to come visit them, like they’re saying, no, they’re so nice.”

Although 7th Heaven ran for 11 seasons, Beverley admitted she couldn’t have predicted its popularity, saying they expected the show to be canceled once or twice.

“It was really hard to predict what the impact of our show would be. We were kind of a little engine that, nobody expected us to last,” she said.

‘But we just kept going and going and going, and I thought, I’m an extreme loyalist, so I would stay with that show and do every episode until we were done.

“But there were also a few years where we were like, ‘Oh, I think this is it,’ and then we’d come back another year! It was a bit of a shock that we made it to 11.”

More recently, Beverley (pictured in 2023) starred in her own reality TV series called Keeping it Real, as well as the 2018 horror series Blood Pageant and a series of Christmas films

Beverley has reunited with her co-stars David Gallagher and Mackenzie Rosman to host a podcast where they revisit their iconic scenes from the ’90s series.

David played Simon Camden on 7th Heaven, among others, while Mackenzie played Ruthie Camden on The WB’s long-running series.

Beverley admitted they were nervous about rewatching their own scenes on the show, but said it made them fans of the show for the first time.

“It’s funny because we were very hesitant. We wanted to do a podcast and at first we were just talking about stories, but then the fans wanted us to rethink it,” she said.

“We were all a little scared because we thought, oh gosh, this is going to be so awkward and weird. But it’s actually the opposite, it’s made us fall in love and appreciate it on a different level.”

Beverley said they were all too young when the series first hit screens to appreciate its popularity and influence, but now they love it.
