Maid of honour reveals how she forgot to tell bride to remove hair band on her wrist

A maid of honour has shared her private shame at realising she had ‘failed’ her best friend on her wedding day by failing to notice a key piece of wardrobe.

In a video posted to TikTok a user by the name of @BriteMelon reflected on her reaction after seeing her friend’s wedding photos for the first time.

‘Looking at my best friend’s wedding pics knowing I completely failed her as a maid of honour,’ she wrote on the footage.

The clip showed a picture of the bride at the end of an outdoor altar with a black hairband around her wrist, a common place for ladies to leave it while it’s not in use.

‘I can’t believe I actually let her walk down the aisle with a hair elastic on her wrist,’ the TikToker said.

The footage was set to the song ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ by Hannah Montana.

While many were shocked the photographer didn’t tell the bride to take it off or simple edit it out of the final photos, others were sympathetic to the situation and share their own mishaps.

‘It’s fine my maid of honour forgot to give me my bouquet,’ one woman replied.

‘My husband had his military belt on upside down for our wedding but luckily the photographer flipped it for every photo,’ said another.

A third added: ‘Don’t worry I didn’t do my sister’s wedding dress up properly. I’m still so annoyed about it five years later’.

One woman who said she had done the exact same thing when she got married offered to edit the photos for free to solve the problem.

‘I will personally edit it out of as many pictures you want for free. I did the same thing when I got married,’ she said.

Earlier this week a wedding guest took to TikTok with her shock mistake at her friend’s wedding – she had accidentally sliced into the top tier of the bride and groom’s wedding cake.

Hailey is seen helping herself to the dessert after thinking the couple had simply ‘forgotten to serve it’.

The majority of the cake had already been cut and served to guests, but the top tier is traditionally saved for the newlywed’s one-year anniversary; it is thought to symbolise good luck and prosperity.

‘My apologies to the bride and groom,’ Hailey captioned the video that has since been viewed more than 5.2million times.

Hailey can also be seen happily dancing to the music and licking her fingers after placing the piece of cake onto a plate before another guest walks over.

Explaining the situation, she wrote: ‘Ignoring the brownie table and confidently cutting myself a slice of HER WEDDING CAKE thinking, “Uh-oh. They forgot to serve it to everyone”.’

On the bottom right in a smaller font she added: ‘I know better now. I hate myself.’

Within days the video quickly caught the attention of the masses, and the bride commented on the matter at hand.

‘As the bride whose cake this is – she is formally forgiven and has learned her lesson in wedding etiquette,’ she wrote.

Others couldn’t believe what Hailey had done and the fact that another guest recorded her committing the act shocked hundreds.

‘The way someone was even recording this instead of running up and stopping you,’ one person wrote.

‘This is funny but it really does tell you a lot about the type of person someone is,’ another added.

A third wrote: ‘This made me angry and it’s not my wedding.’

Another asked: ‘Was this your first wedding??’

Why do you eat your wedding cake one-year later?

Saving wedding cake for your first anniversary is a tradition that symbolises good luck and prosperity for newlyweds.

The top tier of the cake is to be frozen and then consumed on the couple’s first anniversary.

How To Preserve the Top of Your Wedding Cake:

1. Immediately following the wedding, place the top tier of the cake in the freezer for a few hours to freeze the outer layer of icing

2. Next, loosely wrap the entire cake with freezer-safe plastic wrap. Cover every inch of cake with plastic wrap, ensuring no piece remains exposed. This will help you to ward off the dreaded freezer burn

3. Once wrapped, place the tier into a cake box (you can obtain these from a local craft store, or ask your baker to provide you one ahead of time.)

4. Wrap the cake box in the same plastic wrap to seal it from moisture, air, etc.

5. Finally, place the box in the back of the freezer for safekeeping

Many said if the situation happened to them they’d no longer speak to the guest, or it would be difficult to forgive them.

‘The way we would no longer be on speaking terms,’ one person admitted, another wrote: ‘Unfriended immediately.’

A third said: ‘Noooo pls because I would never talk to you again.’

‘I would be absolutely mortified,’ another added.
