A powerful earthquake has rocked Indonesia's eastern Papua region.
The magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck 162 km northeast of Abepura, a district of Jayapura, the capital of Papua province, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency said.
The agency said the earthquake had a depth of about 10 km and occurred early Sunday morning.
There have been no reports of serious damage or injuries.
A powerful earthquake has shaken Indonesia's easternmost region of Papua, but there were no immediate reports of serious damage or casualties.
There is no risk of a tsunami, but the agency warned that aftershocks could be felt in surrounding areas.
This is not the first time a shallow earthquake has struck the province. The area was hit in February, resulting in the deaths of four people when a floating restaurant plunged into the ocean.
Indonesia is often hit by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions due to its location on the Ring of Fire.
The Ring of Fire is a line of volcanoes and fault lines in the Pacific Basin.
A magnitude 5.6 earthquake on November 21 killed more than 300 people and injured nearly 600 when it struck Cianjur in West Java.
