An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale has hit the Pacific island of Vanuatu.
The earthquake struck at 5 a.m. local time on Monday at a depth of 39 km.
According to the Vanuatu Meteorology and Geological Hazards Department, there is no threat of a tsunami.
Vanuatu is located 1,750 kilometers from the east coast of Australia.
