Magic Johnson recalls hanging up on Michael Jackson TWICE when he called to ask him to appear in a music video… and how he let Prince have a pajama party at his movie theater

Magic Johnson recalled a time when he hung Michael Jackson twice and had Prince as a guest in one of his movie theaters as he reminisced about his playing days in the NBA on Thursday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show.”

The 64-year-old former Lakers point guard first brought up a throwback story about Jackson calling him about his appearance in a 1992 music video for one of his most popular hits, “Remember the Time.”

“So I get a call: ‘Magical, I want to talk to you.’ So I hung up the phone,” Johnson said. “So the phone rang two minutes later: ‘Magic, this is Michael Jackson.’ I said, ‘This isn’t Michael Jackson,’ so I hung up the phone again.

“So I knew Jackie Jackson very well, his brother. So his brother called and said, ‘Magic, that was actually Michael calling you,'” Johnson added. ‘No no! Please, I’ll call him back!’

The five-time NBA champion then revealed that when he finally got Jackson back on the other line, he spent an hour apologizing to him.

Johnson also needed a phone call from his good friend Jackie Jackson to convince him that it was Michael who had called him several times about possibly participating in one of his music videos.

“‘I’m so sorry,’ I thought someone was playing a prank on me,” Johnson recalled.

“So he says, ‘I’m making this video and I want to make one with the two MJs, one with you and one with Michael Jordan,'” Johnson said, adding that Jackson asked him if he was free to roll. later the same day of their phone call through his house.

The three-time MVP remembers immediately replying, “Can I come to your house?” Man, what time do you want me to be there?’

Johnson also explained how he expected a healthy meal to appear on Jackson’s long dining room table while they hung out, but the 15-time Grammy Award-winning singer ultimately decided to order KFC.

”Michael, you eat Kentucky Fried Chicken!” Johnson recalled telling Jackson. “I said, ‘Wait a minute, I have to come over there and share that bucket!’ We sat on the ground and tore that chicken to pieces!’

As he began his interaction with Prince, Johnson recalled the “Raspberry Beret” hitmaker asking if he could have a pajama party at one of his Magic Johnson Theater locations.

He also recalled that the Minneapolis native wanted to book an entire theater for himself and a “busload” of people for a 1 a.m. session, and that they would all come in their pajamas. Johnson then told Husdon that he made sure he informed his manager of Prince’s request.

“I went to sleep and got up at noon, I had to make sure everything was OK,” Johnson said. “So here the buses came, people came in and I tell you something, they were like little kids, laughing at every joke, everything that happened, in pajamas. I mean, exactly what he said would happen, happened.

“And that was one of the biggest thrills, having Prince with his team in my theater, that was amazing. It shows how important those theaters were to the community.”

Johnson also revealed that Jackson had a premiere for “Thriller” at one of his theaters.
