Maggie Rogers fan rails against ‘rude’ concert-goers who ‘RUINED’ her show with ‘disrespectful’ behavior – sparking a FURIOUS etiquette debate
A woman has left the internet in outrage after speaking out about the horrifying new concert etiquette she experienced from those around her at Maggie Rogers’ Hollywood Bowl show.
Kendall Lord, from Los Angeles, California, was so excited to see one of her favorite artists perform this past weekend, but unfortunately she said the night was “ruined” after sitting next to “the rudest people ever.”
According to the music lover, she could barely hear Maggie perform because people “gossiped” and “talked over the music” instead of paying attention to what was happening on stage.
She said they “complained” non-stop and that she was the only person in her section who danced and sang along to the tunes.

“Last night I went to see Maggie Rogers at the Hollywood Bowl. It was my birthday present to myself, I spent my money, bought my ticket and went alone,” Kendall shared in the clip.
“I know my problem is so minimal compared to everything else that is happening in the world, but I was very upset. It was the worst concert experience I’ve ever had.’
She said the problems started before Maggie took the stage – and that they started when the opening band, Alvvays, performed.
“I couldn’t hear a single word of what they were saying because people were talking so loud all the time. Not a single person clapped,” she recalled.
Kendall said she hoped things would “get better” when Maggie came, as people are often “disrespectful” to opening performers, but the situation didn’t improve all night.
“Maggie literally called the crowd out because no one stood up, no one gave her any energy,” she continued.

She closed with the most beautiful song ever, it was such a good moment, tears in my eyes.

“The people behind me were like, ‘Ugh, why is she bringing the mood down?’ They kept complaining.
“Keep it to yourself, because now I’m not listening to the music, I’m listening to your complaining.
‘I don’t know what this new culture is of people being disrespectful at concerts. You may not want to enjoy your time but I spent my money and you ruin the experience for me and other people who came here for the concert and not to gossip about posting on Instagram or your job.
‘I don’t want to hear that if I came to enjoy the music. It felt like a waste of my time and money and I was so excited to see this concert.
“I just don’t know what’s going on these days with people being disrespectful to other people and artists.”
Many people took to the comment section to share their anger at the situation.
“I’ve had the theory that concerts have become something people just go to and say they’ve done/posted about it,” one person wrote.
One fan named Nina Ward said, “There’s nothing more uncomfortable than going to a concert and halfway realizing that you’re the only one standing and dancing and singing”

“I saw The Cure in May and got yelled at for standing like ?? don’t you do that at concerts?’ read a fourth comment.
“I saw Leon Bridges at the Bowl last year and it was so sad. No one sang or even stood. A lot of people left early, I felt so bad,” said another user.

“Ugh I’m so sorry this happened. It was a weird one for sure,” she wrote. ‘Special in its own way. Beautiful location. But strange.’

“It would be insincere if I didn’t say that this concert feels incredibly strange,” said Maggie.
“People in front of me were eating and not moving,” Dondrea added. “Her true fans were scattered among people who were just there for a picnic… I felt for Maggie last night. She deserved better.’
In a follow-up video, Dondrea said that while she “understands” that people “feel entitled to do whatever they want” at a concert because they paid for their ticket, there is an unspoken set of rules that fans are expected to follow.
“Obviously it’s an exchange, a relationship. The artist performs and the audience thanks, praises, they cheer,” she said.
‘If the audience doesn’t participate or contribute, the artist senses it. They can feel it.’
She encouraged those who go to shows but aren’t fans of the artist to still try to “dance and have fun” so it doesn’t feel “uncomfortable” for the artist.
