Magdala, South Australia: Two people dead after horror head-on collision between truck and a ute

Two people have been killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a car north of Adelaide.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident in Magdala, about 70km north of the South Australian capital, around 2pm on Friday afternoon.

According to first responders, a Toyota car and a truck collided on Owen Road before hitting a pole and downing power lines.

“Unfortunately, two occupants of the ute, a 67-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman from the local area, died at the scene,” an SA Police spokesperson said on Saturday.

“The truck driver, a 65-year-old man from Smithfield, was not injured in the crash.”

Owen Rd was closed until 12.30pm on Saturday.

Major crash investigators are investigating the cause of the crash.

The deaths of the man and woman mark the 35th and 36th lives lost on South Australia’s roads this year.
