Magaluf tourists ‘who gang-raped Brit, 18, in hotel room recorded more than 20 videos of the attack’, report claims

The men accused of gang-raping a British tourist at a hotel in Magaluf recorded more than 20 videos of the alleged sexual assault, it was alleged last night.

Police confirmed yesterday that they had found images on the suspects’ mobile phones, which are now in the hands of an investigating judge and could form an “important part” of the case against them.

The respected Mallorcan newspaper Ultima Hora said overnight that the number of videos totaled more than 20.

It also reported that investigators tried to identify several other tourists who witnessed the alleged gang rape and “did nothing to stop it.”

The Guardia Civil has not yet officially commented on the latest reports and could not be reached for comment.

The six suspects – five French holidaymakers and one Swiss who stayed at the BH Mallorca Resort in Magaluf – are believed to have had consensual sex with the British 18-year-old who said she was gang raped after she returned to one of the men’s toilets.

They have been remanded in custody after appearing in court behind closed doors on Tuesday.

The unnamed British teenager was on holiday with a friend who is believed to have made a statement to police and the investigating judge as part of the ongoing investigation.

The hotel where the alleged gang rape took place in the early hours of Monday said yesterday it was fully cooperating with investigators and offered its support to the alleged victim.

A spokesman said: ‘The BH Mallorca Resort deeply regrets what has happened and would like to express its firm and firm rejection of the alleged sexual assault that took place at the hotel in the early hours of Monday 14 August.

The hotel also wants to show its solidarity with the alleged victim of this aggression.

“We are fully cooperating with the Guardia Civil and its investigators in whatever they deem necessary.

“With this statement, this hotel reaffirms its commitment to the condemnation of all types of sexual assaults that violate people’s dignity and physical integrity.

“Behaviour that undermines those rights has no place in this establishment.”

The hotel says it will not comment for the time being.

It was reported earlier in the day that a security guard came to the aid of the 18-year-old Briton after finding her sobbing on the floor in the lobby following the alleged gang rape.

He called the police after finding her around 5 a.m. on Monday, recalling how he just came in for his morning shift and described the police response as very quick and efficient.

The woman was allegedly raped after allegedly meeting the suspects at a party.

A spokesperson for the Guardia Civil confirmed earlier this week: “I can confirm that we are investigating an alleged gang rape at a hotel in Magaluf.

We were alerted by the hotel early Monday morning after the alleged victim raised the alarm.

“A group of officers took her to the hospital so she could be examined by a doctor, and another team of officers tried to locate the alleged aggressors.

They were arrested in the following hours. The investigation is ongoing and involves a team of officers who specialize in investigating alleged sex crimes in Magaluf.

“Five of the arrested men are French and the sixth suspect has Swiss nationality. They’re all in their twenties.’

A well-placed insider confirmed the alleged victim was an 18-year-old British tourist and said she made a statement after alerting police to a court judge during a closed-door hearing. Her current whereabouts are unclear.

The insider said: “They are currently in jail in Mallorca and will remain there for the foreseeable future pending successful attempts by a lawyer to secure their bail.

“The decision to take them into custody would not have been taken lightly. It doesn’t prove that the men did what the alleged victim claims to have done, but it indicates that officials have good reason to believe that an assault occurred.

“The woman who claims she was gang raped corroborated what she told police in a court statement.”

Unconfirmed local reports say grab marks were found on the British teen’s arms by a medic during the hospital examination.

Detectives have already looked at CCTV provided by the hotel and conducted an inspection of the room where the alleged attack took place.

The men being held in prison have not yet been charged, as is normal in Spain, where formal charges are not filed until shortly before trial. At this stage, they are ‘investigators’ in an ongoing criminal investigation, meaning they are under formal investigation.

The four-star adults-only BH Mallorca Resort describes itself on its website as the ‘best accommodation option in Magaluf’.

It has its own beach club with over 100 VIP beds, a DJ booth and a dance floor.
