Not long after he celebrated lavishly in front of Arsenal’s butt, his shirt spinning frantically above his head, Arsenal match winner and head tweeter Gabriel Magalhaes was quickly back on social media. ‘Nothing human… London is red,’ he posted.

Gabriel had a similar doll with Brentford striker Ivan Toney earlier this season.

He did so on Sunday to sprinkle salt in the fresh wounds of his latest target, former team-mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a day to forget against former club Arsenal

Aubameyang had said ‘Arsenal, nothing personal’ during his cameo role in BT Sports’ advertisement for the game before adding: ‘I’m back. I am blue. I’m ready.’

The latest statement turned out to be more of an accurate reflection of Arsenal.

Aubameyang will soon forget this big day on a personal level, against his old club and the manager who forced him out of the Emirates.

One that ended prematurely, with just eight touches, and in which his biggest contribution was a late foul on Ben White that he booked in the first half.

Aubameyang was also often isolated and was not helped by a lack of service at Stamford Bridge

It was the 64th minute when Aubameyang was substituted, but the decision seemed to have been made much earlier in the second half.

The ball bounced off Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s side on the left flank and he hopefully scooped it forward.

None of his teammates were on the same wavelength or close to where it landed, he only managed to give way in possession and almost immediately Armando Broja was sent off to warm up.

It was clear what was to come. In the end, Aubameyang eventually ran off in the wake of Gabriel’s winner.

And with the attention of many Arsenal fans elsewhere at the time, few noticed his departure and broke away from their celebrations to cheer, having already done his previous involvement.

They didn’t have to do that too often, as Aubameyang made a seventh appearance without a goal.

Aubameyang certainly looked forward to his challenge on white at first, which earned him a rare yellow, an indication of that.

With the history between him and Mikel Arteta in mind, the cameras quickly turned to the Spaniard’s animated, arm-clapping sideline reaction.

Unfortunately for Aubameyang, this was not a performance Arteta would regret.

Aubameyang posed little threat throughout, but was also often isolated and unhelped by Chelsea’s lack of service and attacking cohesion, which contrasted sharply with that of his former club.

Chelsea head coach Graham Potter said: “We have to do better in the way we create chances or else you zoom in on individuals and it’s a team issue.”

With the focus, also from Gabriel, firmly on him.

Aubameyang would no doubt have applauded Potter’s attempt to disseminate the investigation.
