MAGA Fans CELEBRATE After Mitch McConnell Announces He’s Stepping Down as Leader: Matt Gaetz Leads Conservatives Declaring Victory Over ‘McFailure’

Conservative MAGA supporters of President Donald Trump celebrated Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s announcement that he would leave his leadership position in November after the 2024 elections.

Supporters of President Donald Trump have long criticized McConnell for quietly working behind the scenes against some of the former president’s political goals and thwarting conservative ambitions.

Sen. Rick Scott, who is challenging McConnell for minority leader in 2022, welcomed the news.

“I have been very clear and have long believed that we need new leadership in the Senate that represents our constituents and the issues we must fight for,” he wrote in a statement.

McConnell easily defeated Scott in 2022, when 37 Senate Republicans voted for McConnell, and only ten supported Scott and one voted present.

Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) expressed frustration that McConnell waited until November to resign from his leadership position.

“I called on McConnell to resign over a year ago. This is good news. But why wait so long? We need new leadership now,” he said wrote on X.

Other political figures agreed.

‘Why wait? Americans Deserve Actual Conservative Leadership wrote Kevin Roberts, the chairman of the conservative think tank Heritage.

Others were content to simply celebrate.

“We now have 86’d: McCarthy, McDaniel, McConnell,” right-wing firebrand Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) wrote on X, referring to former Chairman Kevin McCarthy, RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel and McConnell. “Better days are ahead for the Republican Party.”

‘On to the future’ wrote former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, highlighting his call from earlier in February for McConnell to drop the next establishment Republican.

“Mitch McConnell’s resignation presents a great opportunity for true conservative leadership in the Senate,” Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) wrote on social media.

Good endorsed Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) as a possible replacement for McConnell, even as eyes are on senators already part of the Senate leadership, Sen. John Thune (R-SD), Sen. John Cornyn (R- TX) or Senator John. John Barrasso (R-WY).

Other conservative media figures expressed frustration that McConnell waited until November to resign.

“McConnell is terrible, everyone hates him, and there is no reason for him to stay in office any longer. He must resign now wrote Sean Davis, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative news website The Federalist.
