MAGA convert replaces Fox News anchor Trump branded ‘one of the WORST on television’ as network prepares for his comeback

Fox News is replacing longtime anchor Neil Cavuto with someone who may be more sympathetic to new President Donald Trump.

Will Cain will take over the network’s 4 p.m. timeslot on Jan. 21 with his eponymous show, which will offer “a comprehensive overview of the day’s news in a signature podcast style,” network executives announced Monday.

Fox CEO Suzanne Scott said he brings “years of experience as a veteran anchor and advocate to the 4 p.m. hour, and we look forward to adding his insights to what will undoubtedly be another historic news cycle this year.”

Cain joined Fox News in August 2020 and co-hosted Fox & Friends Weekend. He also occasionally filled in on The Five, Jesse Watters Primetime and, after Tucker Carlson left, Fox News Tonight.

He earned his law degree from the University of Texas Law School and started out as a sports broadcaster and analyst for ESPN. Cain was also previously a political commentator for CNN and hosted the conservative media outlet The Blaze.

“It’s been an honor to wake up America over the past four years, and I’m excited to apply my background in news, law, entertainment and business to help our viewers better understand headlines through thought-provoking content and analysis, every weekday afternoon,” Cain said.

The new host will likely be less critical of the newly elected president than Cavuto, who ended his 28-year tenure at the network last month.

His programming has become known for his willingness to appeal to Trump, who shot back that Cavuto was “one of the WORST on television” after the anchor said he lost the debate to Kamala Harris.

The timeslot was previously owned by former Fox News host Neil Cavuto

In a Truth Social post, he said, “Neil Cavuto, Fox’s lowest rated host, is one of the WORST on television. I actually prefer the losers at CNN and MSDNC.”

When Cavuto subsequently announced he was leaving the network, Trump hailed it as “GOOD NEWS FOR AMERICA” and said it was “long overdue.”

Cavuto has been an outspoken critic of Trump’s frequent denials of the COVID vaccine, especially after a second bout of the virus that nearly killed him.

He also went after the president-elect in 2020 after promoting the use of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for Covid.

Cain was also initially critical of Trump, writing in an op-ed for CNN in 2011 that conservatives should denounce his candidacy and call him and former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin “populists.”

But after Trump came to power, Cain appeared to have changed his tune, repeatedly praising the then-president and his Make America Great Again platform.

He praised the news of Cavuto leaving the network last month

In September 2023, he argued that Biden carried out the “intentional” destruction of the United States by failing to control illegal immigration at the southern border.

The following year, while summarizing his joint interview with Trump, Cain also referred to some of the Republican critics as “single-cell, amoeba-level intelligence individuals who have no real ability to escape the 2016 Trump derangement syndrome .’

Cain will now conclude his stint on Fox & Friends Weekend on Saturday.

He will then be replaced on the morning show by network contributor Charlie Hurt, who will give up his position as opinion editor of The Washington Times but continue to write a column for the newspaper.
