MAFS UK star April Banbury has admitted she has been ‘struggling’ lately after her stint on the hit show.

During a candid Instagram Q&A with fans on Tuesday, April 33, a follower asked how she was doing.

It comes after the former Miss Great Britain said she needed therapy after her time on the show and after her ‘ex-husband’ George Roberts was arrested on suspicion of controlling and coercive behavior.

“How are you okay?” a follower asked the MAFS bride.

“The truthful answer is, I haven’t been, there are days when I really struggle, but I smile and try to get through the day as best I can,” April explained.

“I don’t want things to affect me so negatively that I lose sight of who I am.”

April said she hopes to inspire and help others who may be struggling.

“And if I can stay strong and get through things, hopefully I can show others that there’s a power in you that will allow you to come out the other side,” she said.

Over the weekend, April revealed she needed therapy after appearing on the show.

The former Miss Great Britain, 33, said the “traumas” she is now experiencing are “ruining her life” and claimed the show should do more background checks on contestants.

His appearance on the E4 show came despite three women who had previous relationships with Roberts reportedly voicing concerns about him. Others would have come forward by now.

April has now told it The sun: ‘The trauma I have from playing on Married At First Sight is ruining my life.

“I had six therapy sessions and was basically told to try and move on. People say Love Island is brutal, but MAFS is 100 percent worse.

“No one should apply to participate until they have stricter background checks in place.”

“I just try to get through every day. If I slip into that dark hole, I don’t think I’ll ever get out.”

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: “It is absolutely inaccurate to suggest that April was asked to take a position against her will, nor would we try to silence her.

All cast will have access to appropriate support before, during and after filming and broadcasting, including access to an independent psychologist.

‘This support is provided proactively at every stage and, if required, continuously. April has been offered and still has access to such support.

“All contributors are subject to thorough background and psychological checks, including the most rigorous police checks a production can carry out.”

George, 40, and April were married in a non-legally binding ceremony after they first met at the altar on the hit E4 show.

April recently returned to her £750,000 South London apartment – without ‘husband’ George.

Before the news of his arrest was reported, MailOnline exclusively revealed that April is in therapy following the end of her marriage to the divorced father of four.

E4 is still airing the pre-recorded program with him and his TV wife April after he was arrested.

Father-of-four Roberts, a financial adviser, denies any wrongdoing and has been released on bail by Scotland Yard.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘On Thursday, September 29, a 40-year-old man was arrested in Worcestershire on suspicion of coercive and coercive behaviour. He was taken to a police station and released on bail pending further investigation.’

Meanwhile, viewers of last Tuesday’s episode of Married At First Sight UK saw April continue to express concern about her husband’s ‘trust issues’, while claiming he could be ‘the one’.

The former Miss GB brought George to London during the show’s homestay week where they met April’s best friend Jose.

As she was having a few drinks, April said to her friend, “It’s been a huge rollercoaster, it’s a journey I thought I’d never take. It hasn’t gone smoothly. I got an insight into George’s life, what it was like, it’s peaceful, very different. We have very different lives. I think that’s what we need to see if we can integrate together.’

Speaking alone to the camera, Jose said, “The April I know I don’t think she wants to go to the country, she still has a lot to accomplish in the city.”

“As far as compromises go, I don’t want April to do all the work. He also needs to add a small compromise. Like okay, the kids are very important in my life, but so are you.”

April told him, “My biggest concern is the fact that he hasn’t trusted me throughout this process and I haven’t done anything not to trust him.

“Things have happened, things have been said and I feel like I have to defend myself all the time to the point where I don’t know what else I can do to make him believe I never would.”

Jose replied, “This is George’s problem, it’s not your problem. He is the one who has to find a solution to his trust problems.

Only to the camera, April said, “My biggest concern that I have expressed to Jose is that George has trust issues.

“I hope he can overcome it because I want to see a future with him and that’s all I can see to prevent it from happening. That’s the most important thing to move forward.’

“I really hope he can get there without sabotaging something that could be so great. I hold on to that. I think only time will tell.’

While George was in the bathroom, Jose asked April, “Do you think George is the one?”

April replied, ‘I don’t know, I think George could be the one. I literally adore George, the feelings I have for him are nothing like any I’ve ever had for anyone in the past.”

Over the weekend, April suggested the relationship was over. A source close to April told The sun that she ‘is having a really hard time’ and ‘never wants to see him again’.

A source from the show said they were not aware of any allegations against George before he married April on the TV show.

But one of his ex-girlfriends claimed otherwise. “I’m so shocked to see that he got a podium on a TV show. I messaged Married at First Sight. I said I reported him to the police,” she told The Sun.
