MAFS star launches GoFundMe to help restore hacked Instagram account
EXCLUSIVE: Married At First Sight star launches GoFundMe to help recover hacked Instagram account: ‘I can’t make a living’
A Married At First Sight star faces financial ruin after his Instagram account was hacked.
Nick Furphy says without his social media he is unable to attend events, connect with his 72,000 followers or make a living as an influencer.
An unknown person broke into his account last month, and the only way Furphy can regain access is to pay $3,633 to a company that restores hacked accounts.
With no available funds and no other options, Furphy enlisted the help of fans and created a GoFundMe to collect the money.
The fundraiser says, “Help a reality star in need as he fights to get his Instagram account back from the clutches of evil hackers!”

“This poor man’s entire livelihood and happiness depends on his verified Instagram account,” it continues.
“Without it, Nick can’t make a living, go to events, or even pick up girls! (Okay, maybe that last one isn’t that important, but you get the idea).
Furphy promises to use this experience as a learning opportunity and will “bolster his online security” by using two-factor authentication when he gets his account back.

Furphy isn’t the first Married At First Sight star to fall victim to scammers.
Earlier this year, Hayley Vernon was forced to pay a similar fee to a company to help restore her account suspended for ‘suspicious activity’.
