MAFS: Leaked texts prove Sandy and Dan faked their relationship for TV time

Explosive leaked text messages prove Married At First Sight couple Sandy Jawanda and Dan Hunjas agreed to ‘fake’ their relationship so they could stay on TV.

Despite knowing that things weren’t going to work out with Dan, Sandy was willing to make an ‘arrangement’ to stay in the experiment because she had ‘gave up a lot to be here’.

The texts seem to confirm that the couple knew they were not romantically compatible, but agreed to stay because it would be mutually beneficial to their careers.

In a text message exchange obtained by Daily Mail Australia, they openly talk about having a “strategy to get to the end” of the season.

But it seems this ‘arrangement’ resulted in some confusion for 36-year-old Sandy, who was still hopeful that love would blossom between them.

The text messages (seen here) seem to confirm that the couple knew they weren’t romantically compatible, but agreed to stay because it would be mutually beneficial to their careers.

In a message, the 42-year-old businessman questioned Sandy’s motives after she confessed that she still has feelings for him.

She seemed to be privately hoping their ‘show’ would turn into something more, even though Dan made it clear that he had no feelings for her.

“Feelings don’t go away,” Sandy texted him. “Once again, I said you’re not my person when I was deeply upset about what had happened between us.”

Dan responded, ‘…But then he went on to talk to me about a strategy to go all the way, since you didn’t want to leave early with what you’ve sacrificed to be here.’

Sandy, a dental hygienist, agreed that she had given up a lot to participate in MAFS and hoped that they could somehow make it work.

However, Dan was not convinced and told her that he could never fall in love with her. He said he was confused why she was talking about feelings when they agreed that her association on the show was strictly business.

‘We also talk about [having a plan] Friday before leaving for the weekend. So please understand why I may be confused by that text. And now this one? she asked.

‘Why are you going around in circles?’ She answered.

‘I told you I have feelings for you and you said you could never fall in love with me. What else was she supposed to do or say?

I’ve given up a lot to be here and I was hoping maybe we could find a way to make it work. I care about you, Dan, and I feel rejected.

It comes as sources close to Sandy reveal that she agonized over her decision to participate in MAFS, but ultimately decided to take the risk because she hoped to find true love.

“Sandy was really torn about being involved in MAFS,” said one of her friends.

“She knew it would be a huge gamble, but she was so sick of being single and wanted to try something new.”

Sandy made many sacrifices to participate in the experiment, they said, including quitting her job and risking being alienated from her family.

“She was a successful career woman, but she gave it all up for show business,” the friend explained. “Even she was worried that her family would disown her for going on national television to find love.”

Daily Mail Australia have contacted Dan, Sandy and Channel Nine for comment.
