MAFS: Grooms smash wine glasses during blazing row at couples’ retreat

Married At First Sight is set to reach new levels of drama next week when the cast returns to Bargo in the Wollondilly Shire for the annual couples retreat.

The retreat was meant to be a chance for couples to bond and work out their problems, but it seems the rowdy boyfriends had other plans.

Dramatic footage shows Cam Woods, Rupert Bugden and Ollie Skelton getting into what appeared to be a heated argument after cameras stopped rolling.

The dispute was sparked by a bizarre prank involving Daily Mail Australia journalist Ali Daher, who has been reporting on MAFS for years.

Woods came up with the idea of wearing a T-shirt personalized with a photo of Daher and pop star Harry Styles, a reference to his years as a celebrity autograph hunter.

Dramatic footage from the MAFS couples retreat shows Cam Woods, Rupert Bugden and Ollie Skelton getting into what looked like a heated argument after the cameras stopped rolling.

The children’s argument, which may or may not also have been a joke, escalated when Woods reached for a glass of wine and threatened to break it. This was similar to the glass breaking incident from last year’s MAFS season involving Olivia Frazer and Dom Calarco (pictured).

But Bugden and Skelton stole the idea: they first printed the T-shirts, then wore them while filming MAFS in Sydney’s CBD.

What should have been a harmless inside joke soon turned into an argument, with Woods furious at both boyfriends for stealing his idea.

‘I told you… I did it. I told you I’m going to print an Ali T-shirt! Woods screamed in footage of the couples’ retreat.

Bugden then followed suit, grabbing a glass and engaging Skelton in a tense standoff, before the producers were forced to intervene.

Despite the fact that the incident took place off camera, Daily Mail Australia was on hand to capture the action from a distance.

After Woods threatened to break an empty wine glass, Bugden followed suit, taking his own glass and engaging Skelton in a tense standoff, before the producers were forced to intervene.

Bugden raised his glass as Skelton threw his arms into the air.

The incident lasted for several seconds before MAFS crew members intervened.

Days earlier, Skelton had been pictured wearing the jersey with Daher and Styles while out and about in Sydney with his on-screen wife Tahnee Cook.

Coincidentally, they were headed to the theater to see the singer-turned-actor’s new movie, Don’t Worry Darling.

In another bizarre coincidence, a busker was playing the Styles song As It Was on a violin as the couple walked down Pitt Street Mall.

A source said that Skelton was “just trying to have a laugh” in the novelty T-shirt since his girlfriend Cook is also a huge One Direction fan. (Pictured: The original photo of Daher and Styles)

‘Ollie encourages her love for Harry. Tahnee kept calling Harry her ‘husband’ of hers throughout the show, but she never showed herself,” they added.

Married at First Sight continues Sunday at 7pm on Channel Nine and 9Now
