MAFS: Dan Hunjas says experts should be ‘accountable’ for mismatching couples
Furious MAFS boyfriend Dan Hunjas lashes out at experts for setting him up with Sandy Jawanda knowing she “doesn’t like the beach”
MAFS star Dan Hunjas says the show’s producers and relationship experts should be held accountable for ‘deliberately’ mismatched couples for the drama.
The 42-year-old beach-loving business owner is convinced he was stitched up after being paired with a woman who can’t stand the ocean and is allergic to salt water.
After breaking up with his wife Sandy Jawanda, 36, at Sunday’s commitment ceremony, Dan was docile as he spoke to Fitzy and Wippa on Monday about his experience on the Channel Nine show.
“I think the experts have to take a lot of responsibility on this,” he told Nova FM presenters Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli.
‘I think it is not fair. It was a deliberate mismatch.

He continued, “I came to the experiment for the right reasons until I found out we were mismatched for all the wrong reasons: drama and entertainment.
“And I think that was very disappointing, especially for Sandy, who had given up so much and stood up to her family and community and risked so much.”
“I think that was extremely unfair.”
Dan did not specify how he knew for sure that the experts had “deliberately mismatched” him and Sandy, nor did he take any personal responsibility for things that didn’t work out between them.
When Fitzy told him that he should have known better than to trust a TV dating show to make decisions with his best interests in mind, Dan pleaded ignorance.
“I don’t watch TV,” he said.
Dan and Sandy (right) finally parted ways at Sunday’s commitment ceremony. The insiders made it clear that they sided with Sandy in the breakup, and John Aiken said he didn’t buy Dan’s excuse that his wife’s dislike of the beach was an insurmountable obstacle in his relationship.

When asked if he regretted going to MAFS, Dan replied, “Listen, given the coincidence that Sandy and I were, it wasn’t the best.” [experience].’
Dan and Sandy finally called it quits at the commitment ceremony on Sunday.
After weeks of fighting and long absences from Dan, they both agreed that it was time to stop the social experiment.
Insiders and other couples made it clear that they sided with Sandy in the breakup, and John Aiken said he didn’t believe Dan’s excuse that his wife’s dislike of the beach was an insurmountable obstacle in their relationship.
“One of the most important things to me is my love for the beach and the ocean,” she said, adding that the ocean is her spiritual home.
After hearing this for the hundredth time, John reminded her, “A key ingredient to a healthy relationship is not a love of the ocean.”
