MAFS AU: Melinda Willis breaks down during final commitment ceremony

Married At First Sight’s Melinda Willis collapses during final commitment ceremony and takes aim at husband Layton Mills

Melinda Willis bravely opened her heart by revealing her feelings about Layton Mills’ refusal to participate in the swinger challenge.

Melinda and Layton, who have had their fair share of ups and downs throughout the season, found themselves at the center of the drama during the controversial swingers challenge.

While the challenge was designed to test the strength of couples’ relationships, Layton’s refusal to participate left 32-year-old Melinda feeling vulnerable and alone.

During Sunday’s emotional commitment ceremony, Melinda fought back tears as she shared her disappointment and heartbreak with the experts and fellow contestants.

“I came here to be taken out of my comfort zone. I signed up for an experiment where I knew I would have to take on tasks outside of my control that I sometimes wasn’t very comfortable with,” she began.

‘Layton was very firm. He didn’t want to do it. And when I tried to give him perspective, he didn’t want a bar,” he continued.

Expert John Aiken didn’t hold back when he confronted Layton about his decision, questioning his commitment to the relationship and the experiment.

“I feel like Mel and I have spent seven weeks on this experiment and a lot of it has been lost due to external noise… much of it related to Bronte and Harrison,” Layton explained.

‘Keep in mind, Layton, it wasn’t designed to make you comfortable,’ John scolded.

Layton, visibly uncomfortable, attempted to defend his actions, claiming that he was trying to protect Melinda and their relationship.

However, John was quick to point out that his actions had the opposite effect, leaving Melinda feeling abandoned and unsupported.

Melinda then explained, “I’m in a very awkward situation, they haven’t thought of me at all, I feel guilty and conflicted.” Like, did I do something wrong? Shouldn’t I have done this? And that, and it’s me.

As the couple’s future hangs in the balance, viewers have wondered if Melinda and Layton’s relationship will be able to withstand the strain of the experiment and its unresolved issues.
