Madonna and Sam Smith team up for a provocative new pop song with crude and sexually aggressive lyrics, aptly titled Vulgar.
The Queen of Pop, 64, and the Unholy singer, 31 – who is non-binary and uses gender-neutral pronouns – teamed up to release the groundbreaking new song on Friday.
Instead of singing, Madonna mostly uses spoken word on the song, saying, “Boy get down on your knees ’cause I’m Madonna/ If you fuck Sam tonight, you’re fucking with me/ So watch what you say or I’ll split your banana.’
Then there is the following lyric reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s Karma: ‘Vulgar is beautiful, filthy, and gorgeous/ Vulgar will make you dance, don’t need a chorus/ Say we’re ridiculous, we’ll just go harder / Crazy and meticulous, Sam and Madonna.’
Other lyrics read: “Look like I’m dressed to kill, love how I make me feel / All black in stripper heels, move like Madonna / Rich like I’m in the Louvre, got nothin’ left to proof / You know you je you’re beautiful when they call you vulgar / I do what I want, I go if I have to / I’m sexy and I feel … vulgar.’
Powerful duo: Madonna and Sam Smith dropped Vulgar the new provocative song. The Queen of Pop, 64, and the Unholy singer, 31, teamed up to release the new song on Friday
On Friday, Sam wrote on Instagram, “VULGAR is a song that is very special to me.
“Me, the QUEEN, and a group of some of the most talented people I know went into the studio the day after the Grammys and we created this piece of music.
‘The creativity was pure and the energy was alive. I am so excited to share this with you sailors!! VULGAR IS WONDERFUL!! Out everywhere now.
“I love you @madonna,” he finished.
Smith already praised the collaboration.
“Vulgar is one of the most exciting songs I’ve been a part of,” Sam told Zane Lowe New music daily on Apple Music 1.
The hitmakers entered the studio to record the new song the day after the Vogue singer — who teased a clip of the new song on June 5 — presented them with their Grammy Award.
“It was written with Madonna and a great group of people,” the Fire on Fire singer continued.

“The day after the Grammys, we all went into the studio and had a great night creating, writing and expressing,” she added.
And of course, for me, the biggest dream come true was to get to work with the Queen of Pop and perform and sing. I am so honored and excited about this song and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.”
Sam’s alliance with Madonna seems to be a match made in heaven or hell depending on who’s listening, as the British hitmaker has turned some fans upside down with religious imagery.
The highly anticipated release comes nearly four months after Sam caused a “satanic” panic with their jaw-dropping performance at the February Grammys.
The Grammy-winning artist sang alongside collaborator Kim Petras and donned devil headgear in the horror film-inspired performance, infuriating conservatives like Ted Cruz with their “demonic” themes.

Many viewers took to Twitter to express their frustrations following Sam’s controversial Grammy performance, with one person tweeting, “I know on the right we’re probably overusing the word satanic, but this Sam Smith performance is literally a tribute to Satan.”
Another added: “You don’t have to be super religious to be disturbed by Sam Smith’s devil-worshiping performance.”
“That devil-worshipping performance was worthless,” wrote a third critic. And it’s been done so many times. I’m disappointed.’
The backlash didn’t deter Sam in the slightest as they continued to use religious imagery on their Gloria Tour.
But the collaboration with Madonna is a much-needed bright spot for the Stay With Me hitmaker, as they recently had to cancel the rest of their UK shows due to vocal cord issues.
Fans are in the dark after Sam suddenly canceled their concert at the AO Arena in Manchester last Wednesday after just a few songs.
The singer soon issued a statement insisting they couldn’t continue after noticing that “something was really wrong” with their voices.

Sam has now revealed that they could suffer permanent damage to their voices if they don’t get complete vocal rest.
Rehearsals began the first week in April for Madge’s 12th concert extravaganza, marking her first greatest hits tour and the first time she is not promoting a specific studio album.
The tour kicks off July 15 with a sold-out show in Vancouver before continuing south along the west coast of the United States.
She will tour Europe from October to early December before returning to North America.
