Madison school shooting leaves at least two dead after gunman opens fire at Abundant Life Christian school

At least five people have been killed in a shooting at a Christian school in Wisconsin.

The massacre occurred Monday morning at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin.

Five are dead and five others injured after the primary school brutality.

Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said officers responded to calls of an active shooter around 10:57 a.m.

“When officers arrived, they found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds,” he said.

The shooting left five victims and transported five others to area hospitals, including children.

He said police found a youth in the building who they believed was responsible for this death. The suspect is believed to be a student at the school.

“Today is a sad, sad day,” Barnes said. “Not just for Madison, but for our entire country.”

Police are not releasing any other information about those who lost their lives until next of kin have been notified.

Local media said the gunman stormed into the school and opened fire.

It is unclear whether the victims are students or employees, or both.

There is currently a large police presence outside the school in Dane County.

The school has approximately 390 students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” Madison police said in a statement.

“More information will be released as it becomes available. Right now we need people to avoid the area.”

The SSM Health/Dean Clinic on Stoughton Road is the designated reunification area, the newspaper reported WMTV.

Governor Tony Evers said on X, “I am closely following the incident at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison.”

“We are praying for the children, teachers and the entire Abundant Life school community as we wait for more information and are grateful for the first responders who are working quickly to respond.”

The school was only a few days away from closing for the Christmas holidays and the students were getting ready for Monday night’s basketball game.
