Madison police responding to active shooting at Abundant Life Christian School: Live updates

Wisconsin police are investigating a shooting at Abundant Life Christian School Monday morning.

Several injuries were reported, according to Madison police. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Police blocked off the streets along 4900 Buckeye Road and advised motorists to find alternate routes.

The school serves approximately 200 students on its 28-acre campus, according to the school’s website.

The school shooting comes just days after the anniversary of Sandy Hook

December 14 marked the 12th anniversary of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

Six adults and twenty small children were killed in that shooting.

The 20-year-old gunman had previously killed his mother and committed suicide after the massacre.

Both staff and children were injured and taken to hospital

Several children were taken to the hospital after the shooting, CNN reports.

Shooter is ‘down’

Local media reported that police said the gunman had been shot.

Several reports say the shooter committed suicide, but police have not confirmed that information.

Abundant Life is a private school for primary and secondary education

Abundant Life bosses say they teach students from around 300 local families.

The school was founded in 1978 and charges between $6,000 and $10,000 per year in tuition.

Madison police described the shooting as an “active scene,” although the shooter reportedly committed suicide.

The shooting happened just as class started this week. Investigators have yet to release the identities of the shooter and victims or provide a possible motive.

At least two dead in active shooting at Madison school

Two people were killed Monday morning after a gunman burst into a classroom at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin.

The gunman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. It is unclear whether the shooter is one of the two officers said to have been killed.

Three other people were injured.
