Swimmer Madi Wilson and cricketer Matt Short have delighted fans with the news of the safe birth of their first child, a baby boy named Austin.
Wilson gave birth to Austin Wilson Short on Monday, who weighed 7.5 pounds (3.46 kg).
The international sports stars shared the happy news on Instagram on Wednesday, along with a series of adorable photos of their newborn baby.
“Our little Aussie is here and we couldn’t be happier,” the couple posted.
Athletes rushed to the comments section to send their best wishes.
“I’m so proud of you, he’s beautiful,” Ariarne Titmus replied.
“He’s gorgeous! Congratulations to you both,” wrote Mollie O’Callaghan.
“Congrats guys,” Glenn Maxwell posted.

The Australian stars got engaged in October last year and first announced they were expecting a baby in January.
“2 turns 3. What a journey it’s been, we are thrilled to announce we are expecting our rainbow baby in 2024,” they wrote in a joint post.
“It’s been a hectic 12 months and we’re incredibly excited to see what the future holds.”
Wilson, an Olympic champion, faced an alarming health crisis in 2023 when it was discovered she had multiple tumors in her breast.
“I’ve been getting a lot of messages asking why I’m not at camp with my Dolphins right now,” she wrote at the time.

‘We found 4 tumors in my breast, which we had to biopsy.’
Tests showed the tumors were benign, but the swimming champion said the experience was still “one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced in my life.”
Short and Wilson debuted their romance at last year’s awards ceremony. The swimmer previously dated fellow athlete Kyle Chalmers.
Wilson also made headlines in 2021 when she was hospitalized with Covid-19 while traveling to Italy for the International Swimming League.
