The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has canceled the allotment of several plots made between 2016 and 2018 in Bagroda Industrial Area near Bhopal. The move came after industrialists failed to set up plants in the allotted plots even after five to seven years. According to the rules, they had to start work within two years.
However, industrialists in the region say the state should give extra time to set up factories as the government takes years to develop industrial zones. Bagroda Industries Association president Navneet Vyas, while demanding relief for industrialists, said cancellation of allotment of plots would lead to loss and new entrepreneurs would shy away from coming here.
Of the 400 plots distributed in the industrial zone of Bagroda, only about 110 are set up with industrial enterprises. According to industrialists, the reason for this delay is the pandemic.
MPIDC officials said that an online process of allotment of the canceled plots will be adopted. Applications will be accepted on the portal and plots will be allocated accordingly. After the allotment, a period of two years will be given to set up the industry.
