The German prosecutor leading the country’s investigation into the suspected link of prime suspect Christian Brueckner to Maddie’s disappearance has said it has no confession from the convict.
Braunschweig prosecutor Christian Wolters said that while investigators have “indications” that evidence may be found at the reservoir, it does not come from Brueckner himself.
“We have indications that we can find evidence there. I don’t want to say exactly what that is, nor do I want to say where those clues come from,” Wolters told German public broadcaster NDR today.
“The only thing I’d like to clarify is that it’s not coming from the suspect — so we don’t have a confession or anything like that right now, or any indication from the suspect where it would make sense to look,” Wolters said. , adding that “it was other clues that led us to undertake this search.”
However, Wolters seemed to calm expectations of what might be found, saying, “We never said the girl disappeared where we’re looking now.”
